So no surprise that Easton is moving on (according to Sky Sports). Who will take the arm-band? Barker would seem to be the obvious choice.

It seems to be pretty common knowledge that he was offered less money to stay...so no real surprise he is off.

Been a good captain on and off the pitch in my opinion and shame he is going, will do well for whoever he signs for. Just hope we can keep Grant and maybe get Timlin in as well as the rest of our midfield lacks experience, although there is plenty in the rest of the team it must be said.

Easton is a good solid player but if we are keeping the likes of Ferdinand and Grant as well as having Timlin (possibly) and N'Diaye (likely) lined up that makes us if anything stronger and there are other areas we need to invest in- right winger, pacey goal scoring front man and keeping Corr for example. PS will be juggling the budget and sadly Craig is worth an amount and no more.

Craig Easton has NOT told Southend he will definitely be leaving. He's rejected initial offer of a contract but talks are still ongoing.

Great captain, during a very difficult season. Actually liked the job he did in front of the back four. However, it is also refreshing to see the club being run in a correct business manner. So in the whole, good player, good captain, but replaceable.

If you do leave Easton - thanks for 2010/2011 not an easy season to be captain of Southend.

Good of Chris to come out with that statement at such a time! I really like Craig Easton, he's done a difficult job well and been an excellent servant and representative of the club. If he is off, then I wish him nothing but the best. I think I've said before somewhere, why not offer him terms along the lines of a reduced contract for one year with the incentive of an increase if promoted?

Barker always wore the armband when Easton wasn't playing last season, was also player of the season too. Seems to have a cool head (as does Easton) on the pitch, which will be useful if Mohsni is playing!

Harris will be the senior pro at the club, so must also be in with a shout, but for me Barker is a shoe-in as he has already earned the respect of those currently at the club.
