Disgrace

Tilly N Brush

First XI
Sean Thornton is a ****ing disgrace i now see why everyone hates orient cheating *******s

sorry excuse my french im extremely ****ed off

How can you blame Thornton for our own shortcomings.
The all too familiar picture with no firepower whatsoever.
If Tilly and Ron Martin think we have sufficient up front then we'll struggle to even stay up this year.
Feel oretty convinced that RM will NOT spend any of the Freddy money and what we've got is pretty pathetic.
McCormack was stupid and naive and knowing how easily Thornton was going down he should have known better.
Lets not, however, blame 1 Orient player for what was, after half time, a pathetic performance.
Whan will Tilly learn to make a substitution when it matters.

Probably the day he realises that you are better qualified to be manager and steps down in your favour.

Completely disagree with that I'm afraid - if Sean Thorton had been playing for us, we would have won that game convincingly - he was the best player on the pitch by some distance today.

He was far too clever for McCormack, who should have cottoned to the fact Thornton was winding him up all afternoon, but instead, rose to the bait and cost us any chance of winning that game.

Whether you like it or not, football is as much played in the head as it is on the park, and he out thought McCormack, and it is he who should be looking at himself tonight, not Thornton.

It may be frustrating, but he is a class act, and he almost single handedly won them the points today, we need to learn and learn quick, about how to deal with players like that.

Spot on.

As much as I like Mac he is so naive he allowed Thornton to bait him.

I am sure he was sucked in and it was a poor decision by Knight to send him off. Watching the reaction of the Orient number 7 as Mac trudged off rather told the story IMO.

never been so frustraited as i was today watching the referee and thornton.

ref - fell for every trick in the book and for basically being orients 12th man. he should be reported for his performance today and letting diving into the game from more than one player.

thornton - can't beleive a player who looked a pretty good footballer would dive like a little girl and try and get a number of players sent off. makes you think how orient fans can cheer his name.

this for me ruined the game and you always knew they were going to get a late winner as we have seen soooooooo many times.

I can assure you matey that is Thornton was in our team today, and he had played as well as he did today for us, all of our fans whould have been shouting his name - no question about it.

perhaps you would applaud a cheat and constant diving but i wouldn't and i'd like to think other southend fans wouldn't either. i can honestly say we have not got a diver in our team and i'm glad we havn't

i said he was a good player and he didn play well today but not quite sure why your defending a player that got macca send off with his ****. seems a bit strange to me.

fair enough thornton is a good player and the free kick was brilliant but he was going down so easily. he just falls over, starts crying and the ref gives the free kick. and for our attacking, harrold was useless. lost every ball and didnt win any headers. black and macdonald wernt going to do anything 5 mins from the end.

Yes he did, won several good flick ons, one of which we nearly scored from.

In fairness we had Black on the subs bench who could have been useful with 20 minutes to go yet he got 5 minutes....

Yes I agree with that, I think Tilly had to a degree settled for the draw, hence his hesitation to chase the game.

Even after the sending off Orient did not show a great deal of ambition to win it.

I ask one question: what did you do when nicky nicolau went down inside the penalty box against Northampton in the playoff semi final? Because he most certainly dived.

I do not condone thorntons actions, in fact he was simply, without question, a cheat. He dived constantly and was at fault for winding pretty much all of our players up. But that said, he looked a good player and had he been playing for southend we would have been cheering him without a thought in the world. He bossed the game today in a way that our "best midfield in the league" could not.

the answer to your question is ----- i wasn't there.

Well fair enough, but I assure you that like every other Southend fan in Roots Hall you would be shouting for a penalty. I really feel that this type of cheating should be cut out in the game but it doesn't hide the fact that when it is Southend's favour it is accepted.

You are right the match officials have the power to stamp out cheats, but those that cheat continually get away scot free.

i take your word for it that it was a dive. but i would much rather take a normal goal anyday. in my time as a fan i havn't known us to have a diver in the team. i do think occassionally jcr does a little dive but thats about it

Thornton did not get McCormack sent off - he got himself sent off by rising to the bait - how can another person be responsibile for what another fully grown adult does on the football pitch?

McCormack lost his temper and went flying on when already on a yellow card - are you telling me you condone that action then, and he was not at fault in any way?

I am not defending Thornton, I am trying to put a balanced view across, clearly I am on a losing battle here!
