Defining Moment

Northampton at home for me. Flavs penalty save from Martin Smith at 1-0, when we were being run ragged. Went on to win 2-1. Next home match was the 4-0 drubbing of Oxford, and we havn't looked back since.

Legend. God. Other words have been used but they are enough!

WHU game showed we were a decent team and thats what turned the season around ...

Cant believe no one has mentioned this one. Kiddie away. 1 nil up(laughing) 1 all(crying) then 2 goals in 5 minutes right at the end. we would have lost or drawn last season but we show the charactor to come back and win. thought i was gonna die behind the goal i was going so mental. Also jkust before eastwood headed in a swear he gave us a smile...

BTW i even bought the video from the kiddie club shop! yeas please!!

Doing the league double over Northampton, and Macclesfield

Yep... it feels as if this season has hinged on two key events:

*Barrett gaining a starting berth - whereafter he started scoring. That was the first event that took the club from the relegation zone to the top half.

*Fredy joining the club - that was the event that took the club from the top half into the promotion zone.

Yes, there have been countless heroic and superb performances in many games. But those two events seem to have defined the season for me.

Blimey -

You sponsor Drewe's wristbands and he is shipped out
You buy a Tes mug and he is shipped out

Can you see a pattern emerging?

One night I played poker with Tarot cards.

I got a full house and four people died.........

My mate purchased a Tes Bramble mug from the club shop. Literally 30 seconds later I got a text message from the club saying Bramble had gone on loan to Cambridge.

3 for me.

Signing Freddy, where would we be without him?

Playing Barrett ahead of Eagle, what would we be without his goals as well.

Not as important But Tes in goal showed brilliant determination and spirit, at a time when we really need it

For me the 'defining' moment of the season was in Tilly's post-match interview after Rushden at home when he talked about how people are nowadays too readily conflate the meaning of the terms post-industrialism, post-Fordism and postmodernity. I thought he had a point personally.

Getting a draw at Swansea showed that we could get results against the best in the division. It was an intimidating atmosphere and in seasons gone by we would have wilted under that pressure. Although winning at Northampton was a great result the 'Sixfields roar' is hardly enough to strike fear into the opposition.

Winning on penalties away at Col Ewe in the LDV, how nerve wracking was that?? What an atmosphere though when super Jimmy slotted the winner home

Signing Freddy Eastwood, turned our season round. His debut game was just awesome. Ive never seen anything like it. 7.7 seconds to a one nil lead, superb!!!!

Adam Barretts continued brilliance! What a player!!!

And, Tes going in goal against the Boston, what a memorable night, one that i'll never forget!!

UP THE BLUES!

I think the defining moment for the club was when the West Side sold out for the game on New Years Day - apparently it had never happened before.

the West Ham game, after a poor start to the season I thought we gave a great account of ourselves in that game. although we lost the next league after that the signs were a lot more promising and once we signed Freddy things really picked up.

For me the defining moment was the Rushden away match. I got up that day and said to my mate, we are going to win today. Although we had beaten Macc, the performance wasnt convincing. He said to me that he though we would get stuffed but as we got to the ground, I could feel the vibe. We had a good showing, made loads of noise and despite being penned back to 1-1, we showed we had an extra gear and cruised to a great win. That was the first time that I think we showed what a good footballing side we can be. Fredys hat trick and Tes in goal are also legendary, but lets not forget Flavs drop kick goal away to Oxford, McCormack's over head kick from the half way line against Yeovil and Ron Martin buying every one of us a drink at Grimsby! Oh, sorry got carried away with the last one!!
