Dan Mooney

Has he lost some weight ? Sorry to hear he had some off field issues which puts some context to his performances that just looked like someone that couldn't be arsed.

Feel sorry for the lad. Wish he’d never left Alty. Might not have avoided the off the field issues, but would’ve made it easier for him if he was settled on the field.
Seems like he's burning bridges - which I generally wouldn't recommend

I admit that I was not a fan of his during his time with us but genuinely hoped that his return to Alty was a good move for him to reignite his career. Sadly it seems that perhaps professional football is no longer for him.

I said numerous times whilst he was here that he was going threw off the field stuff, it wasn’t just a case of being “homesick”.

Seems like he is still struggling, which is such a shame as he is a very talented player, but somethings are more important than football.

He joined us at an awful time, and that certainly didn’t help him and his situation. I hope he gets it sorted and gets his career back on track, if he wants to of course.

ANG is an example of someone who had troubles off the pitch whilst here, and he is flying at York City now, so it can be done.

I spoke with him and Callum Powell at David Lloyd around pre season time a year or so back; a period of Umbongo, unpaid, etc.
They were chalk and cheese with CP "half full" and ready to push on, and Dan almost empty of enthusiasm and desire.
Going to work, to play and be paid, at a sport you love(d) is the dream of many a folk AND should take Dan away from worries and fears rather than be more of them.

Some footballers hate playing football. A famous Liverpool player from the 70s used to throw up before games as he hated it.

David Batty was another one who wasn’t really that bothered about football, just played because he was good at it.

Real shame, Cav used to live with Dan during the week when he lived down on the South coast rather than commuting all the time. They got on well, but I think Dan was more for keeping himself to himself. Clearly has some issues he needs help with and I'd encourage him to try and find the right route to getting that help.

Really Dissapointing to see. I liked Dan and thought he had bags of potential. A real player was in there and something is stopping it coming out. Think Coughlin could be more professional about it and take a leaf from Maher’s book. Less said the better, just keep quiet and wish him luck if you’re happy for him to move on.
Yes. A worrying lack of care and interest in the situation of a young man who clearly has some issues going on.
Doesn't reflect well on the club as an employer especially when the manager speaks that way publicly.
