I hope he stays for the rest of the season now - you never know he alone may save us enough points to get into the playoffs.

A basket case of a football club, but a big football club. You could understand the appeal.

(I have no idea about Leeds' current goalie situation; I'm just talking about its status as a club)

Been a while since they've been in the big time though, and they don't look like getting back anytime soon.

They wont bid the money Ron will want. I'd imagine if we in playoffs heading into the new year then we might not choose to sell. Cup run in limelight might help raise price.

The Bentley to Leeds rumour has been there for about 2 years now, wouldn't worry about this article, it seems almost exactly the same as the past Bentley to Leeds articles.

I suppose the bigger point here is that any club determined to land Dan Bentley will have to meet Ron Martin's valuation of the player in January or risk missing out altogether in the summer.

For me the main point of the Bentley transfer saga has been the readiness of ted smith to take over from him. We have an outstanding England youth player to tale the no.1 slot....

How comes Leeds have got the money for Bentley ? They will never stump up 1.5 - 2 million up front, they living in a dream world if they think they can get him on the cheap:smile:

I'm sure Bentley has scouts watching him at a lot of our games. Not much of a story really. He could do better than Leeds. They already have two decent keepers in Silvestri and Ross Turnbull.

Fairly irrellevent until a transfer window. Is like discussing Jeremy Corbyn at number 10 with over four years still to go!!!

What I find strange about that article is that 90% of it is just a regurgitation of the summary at the top. What was the point of the rest of it?

This would be a wrong move for Bentley IMO , Their turnaround of managers and players means they will linger in mid table for the next few season and can't be a great place to be at the moment , Hull or QPR would make sense with decent managers and stability as a club , can't see Leeds outbidding Hull or QPR if it gets into a bidding war

Had a conversation with someone yesterday who has contact with DB through Dan's love / deal with BMW Fairfield. According to him even though Dan turned down the offer the club made earlier in the season of a new deal, he has made a gentleman's agreement to not accept / further explore any offers until it is impossible for Southend to not win promotion to the Championship. If we do get promoted Dan will then see if the club can meet his needs with regards to a new contract. Anyone know anything about this?

That doesnt really make sense. He cant accept deals even if he wanted to. Just because he is coming to the end of his contract doesnt mean other clubs have the right to talk to him until the very end.

There is a misconception that players can sign deals 6 months before, but thats not the case (domestically).

he'll be able to speak to other teams from January onwards. a rule in the last year of a contract
