It's all going to look pretty stupid. I hate going to Oxford due to that end missing, and that has been like that for years, at least they have a main stand. Surely all the offices, medical facilities and main corporate facilities would also be in the main stand along with changing rooms!!!

Having an end stand missing isnt the end of the world prior to the south stand being built we only had a crappy little terrace one end.

Having a whole main stand missing will be awful and the fact it could be like it for 5 years is incredibly depressing.

Did it say that in the echo article? :stunned:

If it must be completed by 2017, I'm assuming that means in 4 years from now, at the latest.

Seeing as we haven't started building the stadium yet, that's at least 2 years away.

Therefore it will be a 3-sided ground for no longer than 2 seasons, but I think it will be so for only the one.

I suggest if these crazy plans are approved the MS will probably never be built.

Ron has banged on and on and on regarding extra revenue streams but without the MS can anybody explain where the extra monies will be generated from.

Just had a look at the amended plans and seating numbers - north, south and east stands (the Sainsbury's funded bit) = 14,000 seats. West stand (Ronworld) = 8,000 seats.

No of course not as they wont be, which is why the main stand has to be built.

In two sentences you've just made a point and disproved it. That's pretty impressive.

Much excitement- but not sure why...
Nothing really changed.
For example final stand. RM has said that it would be done soon after the first three, nothing I see anywhere at all changing that.
If the coucil add a stipulation it must be done by 2017 thats fine (that well after planned) and I guess gives further comfort not less.

Well if it is completed with 3 sides 2014 (big if) we could play 14/15 15/16 16/17 seasons if it is completed by 2017.

Sorry but after the last 6 years or whatever it is of hearing the stadium will get started I have no confidence in the main stand being delivered on time when it has no funding and Ron Martin has no money, the council obviously have the same concerns if they are trying to get it set in concrete.

Define 'soon'.

1 season is soon and liveable, if it were 3 or more that would be horrible, although Ive not seen the proposed replacement. If theres something usable there in that time then that would make it more bearable.

Knowing Ron, it'll be a bouncy castle.

No MS means the following,

1/ The club will spend billions on lost balls.
2/ Ballboys will outnumber the fans.
3/ The home games could last for several hours.

UNLESS RM erects a rather large nettings measuring 100m long and standing 4m high,Or perhaps a fetching extremely large pair of weatherproof floral curtains which are parted "morecambe and wise style" by the players and officials.

Blackpool got along with 3 sides for a few years

you can follow @IBurbidge7 who is at the meeting

actually @SouthendBC are providing more of a blow-by-blow account.

Doesn't look good at the moment - a couple of tories seem against the reduced contribution towards Southend, Labour councillor wants a deferral to allow more time to consider proposal.
