Ron has withdrawn his offer of £6million to compensate the High Street and has now made an offer of £2.25million. The article also makes the point that the Council will insist that any new date for building the stadium must be strictly kept. It also mentions that the players will be changing in portable premises until the main stand is built. The new stand must be built by 2017 along with 67 flats and a retail park.
Will be interesting to see how councillors react to all this. The whole saga goes on and on, will Martin run out of money before completion?

Haha the players changing in portaloos !

Why not build the main stand first which will seat 4 0r 5000 and build temp covered stand opposite,Then as the club makes progress then build the rest of the carbunkle.

Works for me.

Ron stated at the AGM the main stand must be built last for financial reason's.

He has run out before starting, forget completing.

We can't move out of Roots Hall until a stadium is built and licensed ready to play on with a minimum number of seats available. I can't recall the exact number, but I think it's around 11,000 (i.e. at least as big as Roots Hall). The main stand wouldn't be big enough to fulfil this legal requirement and therefore Sainsbury's can't go ahead with knocking it down (which is when Ron gets the cash for the site).

As I understand it therefore Sainsbury's are paying for the minimum size of stadium necessary to fulfil the legal requirements (i.e. the smallest 3 sides) and will swap that stadium for the Roots Hall site. Ron will then build out the rest of the scheme - flats, shops and the main stand.

The council are also trying to get the 2017 date into a legally binding agreement, presumably to avoid further delays

Sounds hogwash to me !!

Whoever funds the rest of the stadium why not tell them to sort the main stand first then RM funds the rest !

I hope the council insists the main stand is either built first or at very least constructed with the rest of the arena.

The main stand will be the most expensive as it is meant ot be hotel/conference centre etc. Sainsbury rightly saaid they would finance the 3 simpler sides but not that one.

I thought league rules were along the lines of minimum 1000 seating and 6000 capacity?

Any idea of the costs for the 3 sides as opposed to the MS.

Not a clue, but its clear the main stand will cost far more than the west stand, and sainsbury arent interested in paying for a hotel for another company to use.

Now if Sainsbury start up a hotel chain that would help !
