Ok so we all know the story......ineffectual striker leaves Southend, returns with new club and scores a great goal. Harrold,JCR, Revel, Sampson....For those of you with better/longer memories, who else should be added to this list

yep which is why everyone should place anytime goalscorer bet on ex players at the hall! pays out every time!!

Other than the goal I thought Sampson was the same Delilah as when he was with us; all strutting and peacock with no balls.
Didn't Paynter score against us too?

Sampson was causing our defence the kind of problems I like Corr to do to opposing ones, looked a lot stronger too. Every time though, as has been said.

Mark Rawle, Martin Carruthers (hat trick at Scunny) but they both did at least score for us before leaving. Worst ex-Shrimper to score against us I can remember has to be David Morley who shinned one in for Macc Town before McCormack saved us with that injury-time winner.

Sampson has been outstanding for us so far this season. Should have been given a goal against Exeter that was so far over the line that it would have needed "back of the net technology" to see it ! He will move for a big fee before his 2 year contract is up.

Everyone was raving about Sampson after his debut.

I don't remember much about his time with us to be honest, certainly looked a decent enough player for you. Strong and willing to challenge, and that's what you want from a tall centre forward.
