Credit Crunch tips - every penny helps!

Oh, there's loads.

Freecycle is excellent - personally picked up a dining table and chairs, a laptop, a dishwasher, loads of books and other bits and pieces, and got rid of loads of baby stuff.
Change your energy/broadband/mobile supplier
Look into 0% balance transfer deals
Go into supermarkets at the end of the day - loads of good deals for stuff which can be frozen
As Cyril pointed out, some Asian shops are better bargains than supermarkets. Parkson Chinese cash and carry by Saks is fantastic value, as are some Indian shops down London Road.
Loads of freebies on the moneysavingexpert forum
I'm making my own cufflinks over Christmas
ebay- 2 ways to find bargains - fatfingers.co.uk and also, searching for items near your postcode and pick up only.
always use your loyalty cards, they are useful
use the library
always keep car tyres correctly inflated and use petrolprices.com for cheapest retailer.

One tip for saving money people:

Don't go watch Southend up at Chelsea. It'll save you loads of money, hours of queuing and I can just give you updates every so often via my phone if you give me your ticket instead...

This is wholly unselfish of me. Merry Christmas.

Cancel your pet insurance. Most policies don't cover the cost of routine examinations and inoculations.

That's crazy! DONT cancel your pet insurance - because if they have a serious problem then you'll be faced with a bill of thousands. Mine is about £6 a month, well worth the money regardless of the fact it doesn't cost innoculations.

Don't have pets is a better option.

Incorrect.

You will be faced with a bill of thousands OR the prospect of digging a large hole in your back garden.

Worth pointing out that, while a less healthy pet may not attract the same cash on ebay as a healthy one, pets are in fact governed by the same "buyer beware" rules as used cars so it shouldn't be too difficult to move them on to an unsuspecting buyer.

Freecycle would seem like the final option where injuries/illnesses are more obvious as the local restaurant community will be happy to take them off your hands at no cost.

Knowing that you're helping other people will help with the emotional attachment issues people sometimes have with pets.

Save time thinking of new witty comments by simply re-cycling 'funnies' you receive by e-mail every couple of months or so...

save time trying to get rep for funny posts, by just recycling Chris Morris/Brass Eye quotes... and slagging Vanessa Feltz

My point being if it is a choice between a couple of grand or 15-20 (possibly more for an alsatian or great dane) airgun pellets and an hour to dig a hole what makes most financial sense?

mate at work picks stuff off of freecycle, and sells them at boot fairs, regularly making £150-£200 a time.

also, he finds cars/bikes that have been abandoned, notifies the DVLA, and if not collected, he does them up and sells them on.

Don't buy expensive 'ribbed' condoms, just buy an ordinary one and slip a handful of frozen peas inside it before you put it on

An empty aluminium cigar tube filled with angry wasps makes an inexpensive vibrator. Sister S., Berwick

Manchester United fans. Save money on expensive new kits by simply strapping a large fake penis to your forehead. It is now clear to all, as to your allegiance

Handy advice for busy executives. With the time saved they may not have to downsize on their choice of dog after all so they may be able to afford to buy a Dachshund, whose amusing sausage shape means they take 50% longer to stroke than other dogs.

ps It's Viz's top tips.
