All of which is pure conjencture. Freddy was given opportunities earlier in the season and looked way off being fully match fit. He was back in the team when Sturrock was sacked.

Freddy may have looked a bit sharper towards the end of the season but looked very lethargic in the last match and was, rightly, hauled off at the beiginning of the second half.

I see very little evidence that he will be able to play all games or play more than Corr.
With Fred I think the best way to get him fit is for him to be playing games. I say this as I am under the impression he does the minimum in training that he can and that it is games that are best work outs for him. I appreciate he is a pro so SHOULD be training/life style etc that is needed but life and people aren't all made or programmed for that. With PS he knew he wasn't going to get much game time so he trained only half hearted and PS saw that and so wouldn't play him; classic self fulfilling prophecy; maybe PB can break that circle?

I would agree with that - get him on the pitch with a run of games (even if coming off after 55 mins or so) and then we will be able to make a better judgement as to whether the old magic is still there ............

........ and the other factor to consider is his striking partner and the style of football being played. Not sure Corr is the answer as this seems to lead to long high balls (even though Barry is good with the ball at his feet) but could be if there is a decent midfield and the defence have options than just lumping it forward.

Up to a point I agree but even after a few games he still does not look that fit. If you remember Timlin missed the whole of pre-season training but was up to full speed after a couple of games. Similarly Corr has looked a lot fitter despite a serious injury and whole season out.

I am not doubting Freddy's ability it just whether he is prepared to put the hard work in. He has said in the Echo that the season has finished too soon for him ie. he feels fit. If hes is fully match fit for the beginning of the new season then it will be very worrying.
