BLAKESCREWE
Newbie
Glad we have`nt got so many day trippers!
Hooray, I caught one!
(For clarification, I think Straker put in a performance that will probably go down as the worst in the history of Wembley.)
Yes, but the game wouldn't have gone ahead without the ref and linesmen!:smile:There were quite a few ignorant , ill informed idiots there yesterday , but on reflection , it's no different from Roots Hall , just a vastly bigger scale !
I think the sad thing for me was hearing "it will be a long time till I go to Roots Hall again", a better performance/result that might have changed to "when will We be playing again".
Truth is if you don't do it on the pitch all the enthusiam and hype has no lasting effect.
stickyboy;1515[B said:026]Had a bloke behind me saying to his son after our bad start "should never have sold Hall & Mohsni", on his son saying Mohsni was actually playing he told him "no we sold him to West Spam son"....He was a bit drunk and a plank to worry about telling him he was actually playing for us (well sort of!)[/B]
Then on way out heard to Southend fan moaning about display on which 2 other guys said he sounds a bit upset , I wonder what he would be like if he supported a real team like Liverpool. My missus had enough and told the guys "Southend is actually a real team you ********" which quickly shut them up.
Anyone else have any comments overheard yesterday?
Think i heard that before the kick off. I was sat in row in front of them he had a flat cap and all i kept hearing was left there mate asleep in the Green Man pub! Agree he was classic Jeremy Kyle material!that was the same bloke who's crowd tried to start a fight with us in block 132 when we asked his kid nicely to sit on the chair rather than stand with a flag blocking the view, we will see him again, he's bound to be on Jeremy Kyle soon, poor kids don't stand a chance in with him as a dad!!

I saw some people in really bad leather jackets.
As a girl I know I know nothing about football!! I am a season ticket holder and go to all the home games. Yesterday was full of promise and optimism but realistically we knew we hadn't been playing well. We just all wanted to experience a goal or even better the atmosphere from the win. Disappointed ...Damn Yes... expected result...sadly yes.
I have said all season that Assombalonga is disappointing. I do understand the type of player that he is but he ..never jumps for the header, loses the ball all too easily and as far as i am concerned produces very little on a regular basis. Bilel is a prima donna and as a grown man you would have thought he could contain himself, instead he is a liability. He does go for the tackle but it's always with us holding our breath as to the outcome. Was he really injured in our goal or having a paddy!!!
I would have put Corr and Reeves on from the start. Reeves is tenacious and will keep fighting to win the ball, Corr seems to bring a different way of playing when he comes on. I know some say he's not very versatile but I disagree. Cresswell remains my fav of the season as I think he has been commanding in defense.
Now why do we keep playing the long ball!! It just does not work for us but time and time again we go out and play it. It's sent down the pitch for our center forward to not even attempt to jump for it. It just goes straight back to the opposition.
That's it no more, other than to say, great day out, disappointing result but no matter the weather we will be at roots hall to see the season out supporting the boys.
Great post - I know what you mean about Assombalonga. He has no physical presence and stoops down rather than competing for any aerial challenge. He doesn't hold the ball up well and sadly does not get behind the back four as much as he could. Granted the supply from midfield could be better.
Re Mr Straker - yes he did make a lot of errors particularly towards the end of the game - however from my excellent vantage point high up on the halfway line whenever he got the ball in the first half he nearly always had 3 Crewe players around him & no support - he had no choice but to either knock into space for Britt & Tomlin to chase or take someone on.
By contrast whwnever Crewe attacked they nearly always has an outlet because our midfield was not keeping up.
