Hooray, I caught one!

(For clarification, I think Straker put in a performance that will probably go down as the worst in the history of Wembley.)

What's the purpose of 'fishing' on a forum, if everyone did this then there would be no serious debates etc

But if that makes your day, and then also you feel the need to neg rep me, then you obviously need to consider getting out a little more!!!

Then on way out heard to Southend fan moaning about display on which 2 other guys said he sounds a bit upset , I wonder what he would be like if he supported a real team like Liverpool. My missus had enough and told the guys "Southend is actually a real team you ********" which quickly shut them up.

Anyone else have any comments overheard yesterday?

Ahh the old but who do you really support question.
I wish these eejits would get up off of their Sky Sports azzes and travel to an away game in Jan/Feb.

Haha spot on! The most annoying thing I go through as a fan is the...

"So who do you support?"

"Southend."

"Yeah but who's your proper team?"

It must be the single most annoying thing for any lower league supporter. Football exists outside of the Premiership you know!

Proper football too  I don't even bother watching the prima donnas that "play" for England. Would rather catch a game at Braintree.

I think you mean "phishing".

Young 20 ish guy behind me gave his girlfriend a continual running commentary using what he passes off as technical footy phrases.............Obviously not regulars, or scholars of the beautiful game I still thank them for lending their support, hope it could become a regular thing but must stress the importance at least understanding what they are watching.

I'm obviously in a rose-tinted minority of 1 on here, but I have certainly seen us play worse than yesterday, and as I've said on other threads if the ref hadn't been either blind or biased we'd have had 2 pens plus on another day the offside goal (which I accept was offside but by inches) would have been given. They usually are when they're against us (Blackpool anyone?!). One of my 'guests' was a man u STH who has seen us before with me, and he thought aside from the first 10 minutes we did ok. That was my opinion as well. I'm gutted we didn't at least score (as usual at these events) but I thought we looked more threatening going forward in this game than the Blackpool & Wrexham games put together, particularly 2nd half. Yes I was disappointed after all the build-up, and the early goal flattened the crowd before it had a chance to work up an atmosphere. But please lets have some perspective. We have played a lot worse and won.

I also don't get the Straker hate-in. It may be that L2 is his level but there were 3 or 4 worse than him yesterday, at least 2 of those being fan-favourites. It just seems to me that sometimes people make up their minds about someone, or jump on a bandwagon already rolling, and no matter what that person does they will be hung out to dry. I can see the same happening already with PB. Negativity breeds negativity. In fact I didn't feel too negative today until I came on here, now I feel like slashing my wrists!

Anyway we have a bigger date with the council on Thursday (I think?) and I'd swap a win there with the JPT any day.

The bloke behind me on the coach said he hadn't been to a match since "we went up", not sure which match he was referring to. Then when we were walking to the pub there was some lad in a West Ham scarf with a Southend one over it shouting 'Irons'. Wanted to smack him. Pretty much sums up why I hate West Ham.

Had four Wet Spam supporters sitting next to me. When I mentioned that Freddy Eastwood is coming on his reply was 'When did he come back to the club?' After explaining why and when he openly admitted that the last game he'd gone to at Roots hall was back in 2007 and that his three mates had never been, ever!

Personally it didn't bother me in the slightest. One off days like yesterday that bring in £300k to £330k to the club are ok by me.

There were pictures celebrating great games at wembley around the concourse. The one above the bar at entrance J was west hams cup winners cup win.
I have been told that after the game a number of fans were singing West ham songs when they saw it including the Irons chant

There were quite a few ignorant , ill informed idiots there yesterday , but on reflection , it's no different from Roots Hall , just a vastly bigger scale !

As a glory hunter id like to say that you true blue die hards let some of us non worthy but its a day out fans down.
My 14 year old has only been to shrimper games as a baby and for the last 7 years has suffered Berrichonne games and i had build Wembley up big time in his eyes and alas he was more impressed with the Crewe fans then the Southend fans but still he enjoyed the weekend.
And to the group of blokes i ripped into for chanting where were you when we were shizzle outside the ground i hope i didnt spoil your day because you mugs didnt spoil ours.

day trippers maybe, but a successful result or performance would..or at least, could, have added a few more the the regular gate. I, would be classed as a day tripper as i dont get to ant games. So would I not be allowed to have attended yesterday if I had the time to have done so?
These 'day trippers' have indirectly added to the coffers of a club much in need of extra cash, hopefully through buying some merchandise prior to the event.
You cant have it both ways.
