Official Match Thread Colchester V Southend United

Barrett took his eye off the ball and was worried he'd kick Mildy, all this with his wrong kicking foot and we're a terribly embarrasing early goal down.

All that dominance, bugger all shots.

Repeatedly trying to win the ball only to kick/head it into the middle towards oncoming scum putting ourselves under pressure time and again.

Perfectly good goal by Barrett disallowed.

In the old days we used to get it forward a lot quicker ourselves (to a Mr Eastwood), there's a lesson there by Col Ewe to be learnt.

Our spot-kicks are awful, they should be counting with all that dominance.

Can't defend a paper bag when it matters, like right in the box in front of our goal.

No drive from the centre of midfield.

One lucky thing is Barrett didnt injure his ankle when he was attemping to clear the first goal.

Thanks mr interview man remind us of the games coming up :(

Will post a better rating thing when the thread is made

Pitch Minus 100

Agree with all your ratings apart from SPencer who i thought was very unlucky to be playing alongside a greedy **** tonight....thought his runs and willingness to work warrant at least a 6.5/7

Kevin ****ing Watson is loving this... the little comments here and there are starting to really **** me off.... nut him for us Taylor!

Agree. Spencer 7 for me. His runs were very good, that **** Laurent is far too greedy

Would love to hear the Col U fans argue that they are NOT a long ball team. They have 2 big lumps up front and have only one plan. Forget their ****ty pitch, they played the same way at our ground.

After watching the Arsenal game yesterday, it was a case of Deja Vue, the better footballing team lost to the long ball scumbags. Perhaps that's what gets you promoted, but they will not get in to the Championship and if by some miracle they do, then they need to change the whole team / squad!

Really ****ed off tonight, think we played well enough and worked hard but we do not have enough quality at both ends. Defenders always look like they will concede and forwards do not look like they will score.

Hope Baldwin will tighten things up at the back, Barratt looks shakey at the moment (not just tonight) and Mvoto too (although unfit). But who is going to get the goals? Watt will be OK on a decent pitch but looks to be more of a winger to me.

Well, very depressed, would kick the dog if I had one but tomorrow's another day and I will try to find one and kick it.

There is a big difference between ,moving the ball forward quicker and hoofing it up the pitch EVERY ****ING CHANCE YOU GET!!!

It is great to mix it up a bit with the odd long ball but Col U have a 6' 3" and a 6' 4" player in their forward line, we don't. A lot of teams will have one big target man in their team, but not 2 and if they did they wouldn't normally play both at the same time! But it works for them.

Cr4p to watch though!

No usual posts this evening as I wanted to concentrate on the game. So as I cannot be accused by any Cochester scum, lurking on here, I will begin by saying that they mastered the conditions better than us and got their win by a joke of a first goal..................although, even allowing for the conditions Barrett c****d up following another defenders slip. The result was settled with a scrappy second which was again poor defending from a set piece.
That's just about as good as the Ewes are going to get, for as regards a match of football, it was a total farce. The pitch wasn't fit for a Sunday Pub match, it was a total disgrace. It should be reported to the Football League..........though I don't suppose that will serve for anything. The Ewes were, apart from mastering the conditions, not that great and I think I wiil take nearly as much pleasure from seeing their promotion push falter, as I will from seeing us slowly drawing away from relegation trouble.......because that's what I believe we will do.
I was so thrilled at the opportunity of seeing us live on the computer but at end of the evening I felt robbed ........not about losing the match..........but being cheated out of seeing a match of football. This was just a scrap and the Ewes scrapped just a bit harder than us.

We had 10 goals in the team on the pitch tonight. We look toothless without Barney.
8 points from our last 36, with Dons, Charlton and Norwich coming up after Tranny.

Hate to be so pessimistic but spirit will only get you so far.

Glenn Smeller on BBC ColEwe seems to think that 2-0 was a fair reflection on the game, with Paul Clark almost agreeing with him.
