Breaking News Club Sold! (stc)

I can't remember where I saw it but I read that Justin will be releasing a statement today? Is that correct?

The new one will still be part of/close to the FF housing development. It's not clear what is happening yet. B&L is easily accessible from the dual carriageway, the other one is in the middle of a potential 1400 home housing estate and resultant very busy roads. All will soon be revealed.
The new one is built - the pitches that is - it's on the edge of FF. The traffic to/from training ground is minor.

Are you suggesting that the consortium is buying b&l and Ron will build houses on the new training ground? That would, imho, be nuts!!!

I think it’s already been said earlier that the consortium is buying the new training ground. Just need to get it ready to train on, hopefully as the pitches were laid relatively recently by a reputable company they shouldn’t take too long to recover from the neglect.
I'm no expert, but I'd think realistically it will be next pre-season before that site is anywhere near fit for purpose.

I thought that too but I can't find any official confirmation of what is included in the deal. As far as I can see, the last detail we heard was the bid we were told about by JR - the Club, Roots Hall, and the Training Ground for £1 each plus the debts that they carry, and a £20million contribution from Ron from the FF development returns.

I can't see anywhere that that was the deal agreed on. If anybody has a link to something definitive on this then It'd be good to see it in black and white.

I'm not suggesting anything. It's just that now a stadium is not being built at FF, having a training ground near there is not important, although pitches have been laid but left without care. I don't think traffic will be minor in that area once 1400 new homes are built.

Would not be surprised if it's tied into the s.106.
Its the easiest vehicle to ensure compliance - either do as requested by the legal S106 requirements or pay the fine for non-compliance, which can be set at individual levels depending on the contractor.

I see my local team, Scunthorpe has been taken over by a local business lady. It appears to have been a sensible takeover with very little fuss. The main obstacle now is to sort out Glanford Park with the old Chairman, in order to stay at the ground on a more permanent footing.
Amazing news. Hope to see both clubs competing against each other in the Football League soon.

Does anyone what the chances are of the deal being completed before 1 November? As in, was the 1 November the target, or absolute latest?

Can't wait for the new era to begin!
Well if the published target is Nov 1 then I would be astonished if internally the target was a few days earlier. You always build in some sort of contingency. At least you doi in a normal well run business.

I’d be astonished if anything involving our current owner happened on time. It would be unprecedented. Could it be months not weeks. ?

Nov 1st could be the long stop date.

I.e exchange contract but can complete prior.

Last day (longstop) being 1st Nov.

I’d have thought given the supposed wrangling on this that 1st November was chosen so that the consortium wouldn’t be liable for October’s wages and tax. I think it’s unlikely they would seek to complete a different date.

Anyway the key isn’t completion but exchange. Get is all locked in and we can relax.
