CP moaned about me, at me, once.

Wouldn't have minded, but he was clearly the slowest and most useless "footballer" on the pitch that day. And TrueBlue played!

Ive never really understood how anyone can mark all 11 players accurately hence I dont ever mark them in our own match ratings thread.

PS 34 out of 48.

You're in good company there; the great football journalist Brian Glanville always said it was practically impossible to provide accurate markings for every player. It's all just a bit of fun and provides a bit of a talking point.

I can still remember the shock back in the late 80s when John Barnes got a 10/10 in Shoot for a performance against Derby. Shoot NEVER gave out perfect marks!

Personally never had any problems with Chris's work.

No me neither, think he is very underestimated in what he provides regarding Southend United news, I remember when we had very little from the Echo and you would think we were in West Ham.

That said he does seem to be a bit over sensitive at times, for someone who is producing material for the general public he is going to be open to feedback from the masses.

I personally thought it was one of the top 3 team performances I have ever seen from watching Southend from the Seventies.
The only player I would have given less than 8 was our goalkeeper, but that was because he didn't have much to do. No one had a bad game, and there were quite a few I would have given a 9.

Would totally agree with us, best performance since the days of Barry Fry. There was some terrific football played on Saturday.

I use to follow CP on twitter until the official SUFC feed started to post relevant and quite interesting bits.

CP's always whinging and talking *****... started to do my nut in!

I'm guessing some of the players must feel the same way if Mark is writing that.

The massive improvement of SUFC on social media this year has definitely ****ed on CPs chips.

This. I've always found Chris's reporting of the club fair and decent, it comes across as a fan viewing the club objectively, which is what it should. Fine he sometimes takes it personally when he gets criticised from the fans, but then that's normally because the criticism he gets is generally a load of crap. It seems to me that the people that have a problem with him is when he's reporting negative news on the club. Unfortunately, it's his job, and unfortunately, we support a club that (Mostly just off the pitch lately - thankfully) has generated a fair bit of bad press.

Although if I was a player, Paul Smith, Anthony Straker, Peter Gilbert etc, I'd rather Chris gave me a five out of ten in the local paper than have the Blue Voice/North Bank slag me off / ironically cheer / boo or heckle me on a match day.

I wasn't Discussing and haven't fallen out with Mark Phillips!

Good to see my fan club in full force on here again though :)

Chris - another question...

Are you regularly in touch with the club (i.e. asking them questions and stuff)? It'd be good to hear if they're starting to negotiate some new contracts (in particular, Leonard).
