It's gotta be Cup fever. Consider this - we beat Hull, then draw and beat Stevenage, Rochdale and then those muppets Ipshite in the semi, to set up a final v Man City where I concede we might then lose but as City will be in the top four we will qualify for Europe. THen it's off to the continent with 17 games all the way to the Europa League final.

I'd take another season of League Two for that.

Here we go ...................

You are such a pessimist.

There's only one problem with that, if we make Europe, Roots Hall won't be up to scratch which means we'll have to play our European games at the Boleyn Ground. :'(

I'd rather been sewn in Ron Martin's underpants!!!!!!:nope:

I fully understand the cash implications of a good cup run, but my concern is what difference would it make, it would just be swallowed up by the black hole that is Ron Martin plc.......wembley money???? not giving FL or past players money owed????
Lets say we did pick up 200/300k from beating hull....100 percent sure Phil Brown would not get a penny for the squad, FFS we are still under an embargo.....
Dont get me wrong I love the FA cup and would love to do hull, but the long term future for SUFC has to be out of league two...the right way...up to league one.

I know this is all hypothetical, but which out of these two will lead us to having high confidence and momentum going into 2 difficult games against Daggers and Newport.

Beating Chesterfield and then losing to Hull, or dropping points to Chesterfield and then beating Hull?

Now i'm moist for Wembers.

I would pick beating Chesterfield rather than a cup run. But I have a cunning idea, we'll say we'd rather beat Chesterfield and do so and then renege on the deal and beat Hull as well. Simples.

I can get on board with this idea

We just think of Chesterfield first, then we can think of Hull. 7 points from 3 games this month would be a fantastic return! These are the 3 team that we lost to in earlier season between Sept to October!

The good thing about our Squad ,albeit it is a small squad is that there is such versatility, we are able to make changes and still put out a strong team, especially in midfield,Hull arent going to win the premiershite or finish in the top 4 ,so i believe they will field their strongest squad possible, a decent cup run for them is just as important to them as it is to us.and i dont believe a good cup run by us will effect our promotion push , quite the opposite ,it will give the players so much confidence and belief in themselves. Also Suffolk Shrimper i love your optimism ,great thread.

Hull made 9 changes for the 3rd round tie away at Middlesbrough so I doubt they will play their strongest available side.

Agree.
They have done really well in the first half of the season , but injuries , suspensions and loss of form can easily see them slip down quickly.
Steve Bruce wont take too many chances with his first eleven.
Even their 'squad players' are quite strong though , so although I think we have a small chance , IMO t will be tough to get anything out of the game.

Just had Ron on the phone. He said he can fantasise better than that and promised an artcle in the programme on Saturday confirming that diggers will be on Fossets Farm next week.

Damn, that's just bizzare, he wins.

Might as well just shut the Post now !

On a good note, a colleague of mine informs me Southend just beat Valencia to win the Europa Cup on his Telly. Is it a dream

:facepalm:or someone with too much PS4 time on their hands ?

Exactly. Hull are 5 points above the relegation places and have to play relegation rivals Norwich this weekend and Crystal Palace the Tuesday after our game with them. I'm sure Bruce would want to rest players for that game.

Oxford threw away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Charlton, so they will have to play a replay soon. Another game for our rivals to play. Burton got smashed 4-1 too, so hopefully they will drop points at the weekend.

What play-offs are you speaking of?
