Question Cheap Jeans UK

I can't agree Paul .. a mate of mine (he is a bit of a label slag tbh) pays up to around £150 a pair for his, but 2/3 years later and they are still immaculate .. i get the dirt cheap ones from Sports World (about £12>£15 a pair) and after about 9 months to a year they are fooked

Do you happen to know makes what jeans he owns?

£12/£15 X 3 = £36/£45 compared to £150. Don't see a problem myself!

I'm sure the £150 jeans and the £5 jeans are made in the same far-east sweatshops but they sew a little label on the £150 to try and justify the price - probably get a few slebs wearing them in Heat as well for a bit of free PR.

Depending on the brands, there will be a world of difference between the £5 pair and the £150 (as no doubt there will be companies that will do as you say, also by buying the £5 jean I might argue that you are supporting sweatshops :whistling: ).

You will definately be able to tell the difference if they were there in front of you. I'd imagine the weight per square yard in the cheaper jean is 4/5oz compared to an average of around 13oz, the denim will be far superior, there will be more of it and the stitching will be better, so they'll last longer. The dye the denim is dipped in will be better, so they'll fade and look even better as they get older. The cut of the jean will be better and more flattering/forgiving if you aren't a model. The fading/stone washing already done on the cheaper jeans are crap all over and look fake, but with the expensive (probably raw) pair, the fading will be your own and be natural.

They'll be handmade piece of art instead of mass-produced copy.

What looks better?

I have a pair of the bottom ones, £15 from Tesco, a good fit and good quality.

Skinflints and smalltimers you both are, as that pair of jeans are APC's and about £80. I'd recommend saving up, but if you don't want to spend that much, try Uniqlo

Go raw/dry and don't wash them for as long as you can stand (most say 6 months but it really doesn't matter too much).

Agreed with above - for cheap jeans I was going to suggest Uniqlo's selvedge jeans, but at £40ish that's obviously not going to be in your budget.

in fact I have to say the Uniqlo's that i tried on were near equal to APC raw denim in my opinion, I was pleasantly suprised. Sizing wasn't quite right for me though

ps you can buy some spray for the jeans to keep them fresh in the unwashed stage! Also size down on purchase with raw denim, and it'll fit perfectly after a while

Perhaps we should introduce Zone jeans into the shop...we could get Callan to nick a few pairs at Matalan/Primark during his yearly shop for designer gear and re-label them..

Sorted chaps.

Perhaps if you spent less on jeans you could have afforded a shirt and tie for the wedding instead of going in a t shirt?

What jeans do you own MC?

I've got a pair of 5ep's that have never been washed, worn nearly everyday for 14 months straight and the never smelt, I've kept them in a box for the last year or so and unsurprisingly the smell is awful.

decent jeans - only APC and nudies, although always looking for more!! Other than that just the usual diesel, levis, fahri etc for knocking about in / general wear.

I can recommend a few places that do dirt cheap jeans - if you don't mind elastcated waistbands.

Back in the days when I was flush (eg before kid and wife) I spent loads on jeans and personally I think you get what you pay for.

I got a pair of Diesel Levans for £75 which was a touch and they last ages and were great. Fitted lovely, last forever and the birds loved em too.

Got some Boss ones on at the moment which i have had two years and again they are as they day I brought them.
