"Champions" League

Cech's ridiculous yellow last night seemed to come about because of the Barcelona multi-ball approach, and I think it's something the FA should be taking up on behalf of the English clubs. Cech was correctly going to retrieve the ball from where it was behind the goal, not expecting someone to launch a replacement ball that they expected him to use. Surely there are rules about this multi-ball thing that say a 2nd ball shouldn't be thrown onto the pitch while the original is still in easy reach? There were numerous times during last night's game when there were 2 balls on the pitch because of over zealous ball boys.

Although the Multi Ball system is open to a lot of cheating (ie ball boys being told to slow it down towards ends of games, and speed it up if they are losing etc.) I think Cech's booking was deserved.

The ball went out of play and right behind the goal. As Cech was walking to go behind the goal another ball was politely thrown towards him. Instead of using that ball, he decided to throw it back right in front of the 72nd official (or whoever he is) next to the goal and continue to squeeze behind the goal to retrieve the other ball. If that isn't blatant time wasting then what is?

I think they should just get rid of the Multi Ball system anyway. Just look at the controversy it caused in Rugby a little while ago. As long as the fans give the ball back quickly its just as quick as having muliple balls. As you say you have always got the risk of ball-boys being a bit hasty and ending up with multiple balls on the pitch, which then means you have to stop the game again anyway.
