All well and good Paul, we've brought money in. But all of it is still a drop in the ocean compared to what's been written off on the other side. As YB said, we were in trouble then, we're still in trouble now but at least we have plans to move forward.

For year's the stadium has been the path to take us away from the breadline we've been living on for so long - to avoid the situations we're now facing. Getting to this stage has cost us an absolute fortune. Casually throw in a global recession and a credit-crunch and life turns that bit more difficult, but for me, it's still something we've HAD to pursue.

Know what your saying, but Ron was all happy to keep saying he has written that debt off and basically its not going to be paid back (is that right?).

So basically we are starting from zero (thanks to Ron) - bringing in a lot of money from those sources mentioned. Does that not mean we have been badly managed that extra finance - and where on earth would we be without it?

I do agree we were in a state when Martin took over, BUT, for a few years under Martin, were we not looked upon as a great example of a club run well financially and one of not many to be in the black etc etc (all later found out to be rubbish when the accounts were made public, but still).

I cannot believe out of the 72 FL clubs, bar 2 or 3 others, we are in such a state, close to going to the wall. Things in the financial climate ARE bad, but why arent there 10, 20, 50, 60 clubs with stories on the BBC football site about them being a week away from administration?....

Probably because only 1 or 2 of them are stupid enough to use HMRC tax money as working capital & for that the Chief Exec at least should be forced out!

Precisely. They're big boys, they've had worse. They just want the cash - end of.

Ron's best avenue has to be to persuade them that they can get x pennies in the pound via administration; or £1 in the £ in 3 weeks' time (if that is, in fact, the case) - and point out that their primary (and indeed sole) goal should be to maximise recovery for the Exchequer, and nothing else.

Matt

Hence why the HMRC are now looking to appoint a receiver instead of winding up the club.

Spot on. I said in June Ron had gambled with this clubs future and so it comes to pass.

All our hopes lie with Sainsburys now then? I'm switching from ASDA and see if I cannot help out a bit! :D

Because they haven't spent at least £2m - on fees alone - in chasing the dream of an iconic new stadium.

Perhaps our Ridsdale-ish folly consists of architects' drawings, rather than Seth Johnson-esque wages...

:(

The Government

have really not done us any favours, firstly they call in the stadium plans for a public enquiry, when they have already been passed at a cost of £1.9 million, followed by wanting £700k in tax. £2.6 million in total and for what?

If they hadnt called in the public enquiry which was just a sham, to add money to the governments coffers, we could have paid the tax bill.

Cheers Gordon!

Which, presumably, they are only doing because:

(a) Ron has failed to show them any evidence of funds to be received from Sainsbury on grant of planning permission; or

(b) no such evidence has been provided because it simply doesn't exist.

Either way, we'll find out this week.

What is is worth for me to go down the hall to the next open plan office, walk to the bottom and batter the **** out of Carrow Road numpty????

Anyone who thought the shares were worth anything in the first place was deluded.

I think you will find that most people that bought the shares bought them because they love the club and desired a tiny part of it. Very few bought them for their monetary value just centimental value.

We'll all pay an element of your £85 fighting fund donation! ;)
Just batter the inbred carrot crunching twunt for free.
PS - tell him I hope the old bill realise their mistake & double his speeding fine!

Can't agree with that. The club was proposing (a) to build on green belt; and (b) to add out-of-town retail to the development.

The club's plans made call-in inevitable. The government would have been vilified by residents and businesses in Southend if they had failed to call in the plans.

Unless you get someone to video it, and upload it either on here/Facebook/youtube, i'd say it's not worth it
