Not what I heard, waiting for it to come round again but not been back on since.

Serious question, isn't that rather a lot of dough, just on fee's?

Also, i heard somewhere, that it was infact RM's building firm that was to undertake the work.

They are design fees though. With the world renowned HOK (or whatever they are called this week) - ask Sherif H, he'll fill you in on the background detail.

From the Trust site..

Shrimpers Trust Reaction to SUFC Statement

The Trust are devastated that Southend United FC have reached this position. All the information received from the Club over the last few weeks suggested that this course of action was not likely.

The Trust will be doing everything in its power over the next few days to establish what, if anything, is possible to prevent the Club going into administration and what the fans can do to help. Further statements will be issued accordingly.

If RM could not come clean with the Trust, then it shows him for what he is and the sooner he gets out the better.

Its been obvious to some on here for years that his main priority for getting involved was the re-developement postpects on RH and B & L. He has borrowed money on the back of his pipe dream and looks to have taken the Club lower than they have ever been. The saving grace has always been the ownership of the ground and B & L - now we own nothing. I am genuinly worried now - the Club is worth only the value of the players and this 'little man' in whom 'we' had trusted, has managed to saddle us with huge debts.

Just how are the wages going to be paid from now, bearing in mind 80% of income has alreay been paid over(and disappeared!) with season ticket sales.

Sorry if some of this has been covered already, but I am so angry that this man has lead 'OUR' club to the brink, on the back of Promotions, Cup Finals, Cup runs, big player sales, highest gates for years and live TV money.

No excuses Mr Martin!!

I did try the search function to find a thread that carried all the AGM news but it would appear than Rons promise that we wouldnt file for adminstration during his tenure wasnt quite correct after all. I think the big question now is who can buy us. If i understand it correctly the only assets we have are the players and planning consent and whacking big current liabilities. Sad to say it but if a bid comes in for Barny in Jan he's gone I suspect

I think a lot of us would, be realistically how many of the 8000 could afford to - by that I mean demographically.

I.e. how many are under 16 or over 60? Fair amount of our crowd I would say, so they you may only be looking at 3000-4000 that you would consider could be in a position to spare that sort of money. Then of that number, how many actually CAN?

Maybe an option of purchase three/four tickets in advance with one free game being a carrot a sort of mini /mini seaso ticket....

Not necessarily. You'd expect fees to come in at about 5 - 10% of the value of the development. HOK are not exactly the cheapest people to instruct, as I'm sure Sherif H would confirm - but then it would have looked good, I guess.

Looks like, in our case, it really will never get off the drawing board.

:(

Can't agree with that. The club was proposing (a) to build on green belt; and (b) to add out-of-town retail to the development.

The club's plans made call-in inevitable. The government would have been vilified by residents and businesses in Southend if they had failed to call in the plans.

Matt

Residents and businesses had ample chance to put up any objections over the course of the planning application process, which i believe they did, and the plans were passed.

you sure its not the sea air got to you? ;)

Raspberries to you! The water didn't this time anyway, but maybe I have sand in places I shouldn't have!

I cant help but think the natives are going to be fairly restless on Friday night. This is the lowest of the low.

You’re going down, you’re going down, you’re going, you’re going to league 2.

To the theme of “Three lions”

I would not speak too soon my dear budgey. You have to pay Colchester compensation and you do not have much cash!

Colchester fan in peace here. I for one do not want you guys to go under. It is sad that again it is the fans who will suffer. I hope you guys pull through it....

but you still get your stuffing on boxing day!

Duuno... the only thing we have left now are Tilson and the players, so hopefully everyone will get behind them and try to lift them.

Gonna be a very hard game on Friday given all thats gone on - coupled with all the rumours. Plus with only Joyce as sub, he will need lots of support to keep him company :D

And that Carrow Road "hero" is how you come on another club's board on a day like this. Welcome and thank you, and we shall see!

Personally, I hope either Joycie or Mildy has been out training as an outfield player for at least part of the training sessions!

Lower than the club has ever been before?

What utter rubbish. The club is no lower than when Ron Martin first took active control of the club when John Main was forced out. If you remember then we didn't own our stadium, we were saddled with debts and we were facing the taxman wanting to wind us down. What has changed since then?

Not to mention that we are in a higher division, so that even if administration gets us relegated we'd still be a league club, as compared to when we were perpetually in 17th in the 4th division when Ron Martin first took over as de facto chairman or during the mid 80s.

The only way the club was ever going to escape from the situation of being saddled by debt and not owning its ground was if it managed to pull off a bit of property speculation and build a new out of town ground and development.
