CEO Forum Thursday March 13th.

Just thinking about the proposed future East Stand capacity, it’s worth just reflecting on the existing West Stand total capacity.

If we just consider the main section of the stand, the Family Stand, Block X and Block P (unused currently) the West is something like:

Main section: 2693
Family Stand: 767
Block X: approx 800
Block P: approx 100

Total (very roughly): 4360

The future East is not so very different to that. The proposed future East is exactly the sort of size we should be aiming for IMO.

I think the rebuilding of the East is not just about the amount of fans they can get in there, it is about how much space they can create for all the other revenues of income they need
I also think with an overall better ground, we’ll attract even more local punters.

Anecdotal but I know of many people who used to frequent Roots Hall for local football before it started crumbling completely. Be good to win back some of that business for extra revenues

"Tom says ideally the club would like to develop their own players rather than taking loans."

Quite right, too ideally and a longstanding tradition and culture of ours

However we have no academy, we also have very limited mens football experiences even for those not regularly making the squad

Its no coincidence that the teams at the top and likely to gain promotion utilise loanees extensively., especially young men from the Premiership and Championship, trained to a high standard and who get extensive development training and experience at playing men's competitive football, and may also have been loaned out previously to expand experience

Loanees, especially season long loans are a key factor to get out of this league. Pepple and Golding are PRIME examples of excellent , impactful loanee signings

You can get to see quite a few too if it is part of your ethos to bring a well selected number in and potentially increase your chances of signing them. A number of the most successful clubs in our league actually brought in 9 or more over a period and especially early on in the recruitment process this year

Loanees do not necessarily cost a bomb, its a sustaining model , albeit temporary to achieve a necessary end target if needs be, Promotion

I hope we don t retain something of a stick in the pier mud downer on the concept ,and might be a bit braver and more adventurous in this market if we wish to enhance our prospects of promotion. I suspect the fans would l quite love it. Im not saying NINE but would be pleased to kick off with 4 or five? Its a bit of a balancing act between s young hungry signings from the lower leagues and slightly more seasoned in many cases youngsters from the much higher echelons.

I hope therefore we don't determine to clearly limit ourselves to this strong , balance of probability success strategy utilising loanees , as the outcomes are already on display? . Snapping up some more great energetic , exuberant loanees just like Pepple and Golding ,very keen to learn and develop their careers seems perfect sense to me

BUT might not need 6 or 8 for the season if we really can sign a half a dozen more Parillons?

A 5,000-7,000 capacity East stand would be some size and dwarf the rest of the stadium!
Taken all together I think the West Stand has/had capacity of 3337

So from 50% bigger to double the size.

But given the challenges making any of the other stands bigger then it gets us to 15-17k capacity which is probably ideal?

Yes I didn't know to add block X and P?
Thing is the NW has seating the NE corner is open with the gates/access?

The 20 million was due to come from Fossetts, Ron Martin development said they had a cash flow problem, so they are building the stand themselves. I knew he wouldn't let us down.

@BluBayou I'm not with you. Why is this a concern? Has anything been said that has given you the idea that this might be the case?
I’ve heard that KM wants the new east stsnd to be built 1.5 km away from the pitch because it will allow him to play more sideways football. On top of this lads he is asking Jack Wood, Danny Waldron and George Wind to be minimum wage labourers while Kev Favourites Husin And Bonne are foremen on site. I’m not sure if KZ is the man to get us out of this division. I don’t think we’ll get in the play offs

Hi CC. It's a general concern I have with modern stadia. You get the run-off zone, the technical area, the first layer of advertising hoardings, a security line, another layer of hoardings, then a space for evacuating the stand, then the stand fence, then a space in front of the seating for fans to get to their seats. It can all add up. I started watching football in the late 70's when the grounds were very "cosy". It added to the excitement and atmosphere. Some modern stands are so far back it can feel like the fans are being excluded from their involvement in the game, like they are a dangerous embarrassment that need to be kept as far away as possible. That's how it feels at some modern stadiums. Tim did mention that they are thinking of a temporary stand. Would that mean a temporary stand near the East touch-line with a main stand under construction behind it ?. So there is potential for the stand to be "too far" back from the pitch.
