That's okay then.

Maybe that's why they will stay League 2. If we want to climb higher than that, maybe they should be left behind.

Back to Bramble : the man is a prize plonker! He's hardly set the footballing world alight (at ANY level) and is not even assured of a new contract this summer. He could have taken one of two options : work on his injury / fitness and prepare his body for one of the most important football matches of the season. Or head off down a nightclub for a few ciggies and a few JDs. So what does he choose to do? He deserves nothing from Southend. Get rid of him ...

Indeed - the dentures in the pint glass in particular 'almost' put me off my beer!

Although that particular incident was indeed worthy, it was the collection of cockles and whelks in the bottom of a full pint of (I believe) Stella Artois that *almost* put ME off my beer!!

Your recollection is indeed correct except for one small point - it was in fact a pint of Kronenburg (sad that I remember such detail I know).

In fact that the end of the little session my missus poured McNasty into the little Fiat Punto we had then (not an easy feat I shouldnt imagine) and drove him home!

So Ken, when's the next Old Leigh drinking session?

Did you not come to the curry house with us? I'm sure I recall you being there ... although we had spent the best part of six hours in the Peter Boat ...

We did, with Adele's friends from New Zealand (you remember Paul, he worked for your old company).

Adele merely drove him home as she hadn't been drinking and came back to Old Leigh.

Sorry everyone else - this is a bit cliquey I know.

Stalker,

Tes will love you. I might go and tell him. After all you told us.

cheers.

Good. Do go and tell him. Do go and tell him that when your league career is hanging by a thread, you don't fcuk off down the boozer to drink and smoke.

He should have been living like a monk since he got recalled to the club. He should have been busting a gut, treating his body like a temple, and straining every sinew to win himself a new contract.

In life, very few people get given second chances. No one gets given a third chance.

He should have thought about that before deciding to go and **** his second chance away in a nightclub. But then thinking isn't really one of Tes's fortes, is it?

What a fool.

It's annoyed me for long enough now, so I have to say something. It's he's, NOT his.

I've got that off my chest now.

i think this is all a bit unfair on tes. there are absolutely loads of players who smoke. im friends with a goalkeeper from col u (work it out yourselves cos i wont say his name!). we go out on saturday nights after he plays (sometimes) and gets wasted and smokes a good 10 fags. i kno his only a goalkeeper but a professional all the same. agogo, gazza, teddy, barthez and also robbie savage are the ones im 100% sure of but im sure theres plenty more who enjoy the odd fag. end of the day its there own choice, from a playing point of view it doesnt affect your performance drastically - just means the heart has to work harder. trust me tes wouldnt become rooney if he quit smoking!

Actually even sporadic smoking can effect aerobic performance quite a lot.
The point is that Gazza Teddy Barthez etc wern't playing for there contracts although i don't think you can really class Gazza as being a prime example because his career was ruined by addictive drugs (albeit the legal kind).

If a player wants to go out, have a couple of beers and a fag or two after a match thats fine, in my eyes. He has every right to celebrate a victory or comisarate a defeat with a few beers but he shouldn't be on the ****, and smoking the day before he has physio on his hamstring to determine whether or not he's fit enough for saturday. He shouldn't be out at a nightclub with a dodgy hamstring. He shouldn't be out on the **** in the lead up to the most important game of the season.

Very unprofessional.
