Can't Wirelessly Connect?

BTOpenZone isn't mine.. I was hooking onto someone elses internet

I believe BT Openzone is something available to their go anywhere service. You sign over part of your service to BT general usage. Not sure its open to anyone and everyone.

You need to find a BT Homehub or an unsecured router.

So have you actually looked at your "Network and Sharing Centre" to see you are actually connected to your router?

If it works with cables then your router must be setup to logon to your internet so all you need to do is target that router with the wep key and off you go...so

1. is you router enabled for wireless?
2. is your laptop enabled for wireless and can it see your router?
3. do you actually connect to your router wirelessly?

I can see I will have to solve this problem now Dave.

Try putting on the correct driver from the Dell website.. Using the Service Tag on the Laptop you will be able to download the Vista Driver (approx 53mb)

poor signal?

have you tried it wireless but closer to the router...you can see the signal strength for "network and sharing".

Im sitting right next to my router

Have you tried resetting Windows Sockets (winsock)?

Click Start. In the Start Search dialog box, type: cmd, and right-click cmd.
Click Run as administrator.
Type: netsh winsock reset, and then press the ENTER key.
Type: Exit and press ENTER.
Restart the computer

If that doesn't work, try resetting the TCP/IP stack:

Click Start. In the Start Search dialog box, type: cmd, and right-click cmd.
Click Run as administrator.
Type: netsh int ip reset , and then press the ENTER key.
Type: Exit and press ENTER.
Restart the computer

what type of security are you using 'WEP' , 'WPA' or something else? Are you 1000% sure the encryption is correct on the laptop wifi settings and the router ?
