Can't Wirelessly Connect?

Morning chaps,

As some may know I went down to Win XP a while ago and I've just reinstalled Vista about 2 days ago. For some reason I cannot connect wirelessly to any router? Any help appreaciated...

Green rep for those who can help!

Thanks,
Dan / Dave

Noooo !!! Not Dell or PC world
Right first things first , have your turned off the SSID broadcast (i.e the name) on your router , secondly as mentioned make sure your drivers for the Wifi card or usb dongale are installed. If its not seeing any wireless networks thats a good hint
Most importantly if you have security enabled make sure your putting in the right passphrase

Have you switched the wireless on from your laptop? common mistake....

Yeh, I connect to BT OpenZone earlier but I have to have BT as my ISP to get internet

Does it work ok with cables ?

Works fine with cables

and in english?

can you see your router in your available wireless networks from your laptop?

have you logged on to your routers address (an ip address) which will allow to change the settings....wireless may not be enabled at all.

Basically I can connect to BT OpenZone (a network) but they're not letting get internet access

So when I connect to my internet I can't get internet for some reason. And my laptop cannot identify the network.

I have got the WEP code sorted, fine. Just do not know why I cannot access internet!!

what laptop is it ?

Dell Inspiron 1501

I had this I think on my BT homehub......if you can connect to it but not then get on the internet I did some checks that BT told me to do, and they were ok so he told me to switch off and on my router by pulling the power lead out the back.

Have you tried this if you can wireless connect to your router?

If you have vista then in "Network and Sharing" would would have the connection to your router showing but your onward access to the globe would be grey.
