I do agree that the pitch was awful and credit to both teams for, most of the time, trying to play decent football. I didn't think it was a bore draw at all and I personally found it entertaining as a game. In reality it's a better result for us than it was for Bury..........a point at home is not what they require in their position. There again, they won't come up against a team playing as well as Southend did, every week  Yes, at times we lacked that bit of sharpness but there again we weren't playing with our first choice strikers up front but with two youngsters who hadn't the experience of playing together and sometimes youthful exhuberance doesn't quite make up for experience.

I agree with this, we looked perfectly fine until we got to the final third and there was a touch of rabbit in the headlights about us. We had a five minute spell at the end of the first half when they just couldn't get the ball off us, that was when we were on top and needed to score. Yearwood missed a good chance in the second half but in truth they piled things on at the start of the second half and were unlucky themselves. Entertaining for a 0-0, plenty of commitment and actually quite a few efforts on goal especially at the start. Enjoyed it, good point. Bury absolutely did not look like relegation fodder but they may have left it late for survival.

Another pic of some of the 224 travelling Shrimpers.

Yep, it's time we started thinking about our next Manager. Tilly and Collymore? Cowley brothers? Phil Brown?
