So, apart from a late equaliser for Cheltenham and a win for Gills, things pretty much went our way today. Roll on Monday. Let's beat the Conference upstarts!

Well played to them all today, sounded like it was a good all round team performance. The nawty boys know they will have their work cut out to win their places back now.

Yeah 3 points on Monday is vital IMO. We need to open up a gap on Crawley as they do have those 3 games in hand on us. I can't see us catching Swindon so we need to keep ahead of Crawley to be in the mix for the final stretch.

Gillingham?

If they catch us then we are well out of contention for anything they are 11 points behind us.

Pretty amazing day all round really, Torquay/Crawley drawing would have made it perfect but Crawley have won twos game in the last 10 now, they have really self imploded. Even if they caught us Id be surprised if they finished in top 3 now. Shame...

Anyone know the extent of Hills injury?

Sounded like he had a good debut.

The only change Luggy might make is Dicko in for Sampson who hasnt really made much of an impression. Really hope Sawyer and Harris can stay fit as feel both are potentially big players for us in the run in.

According to Chris Phillips on Twitter: "it was a dream debut for me. At times in the past two years I thought I'd never play again so I'm delighted to be here."

Sounds promising

I'd like to think he'll select the same starting XI and subs on Monday injuries allowing, though we know how Mr S likes a little tinker

It's noticeable that the players and Luggy in the post-match interviews keep referring to the team and winning "for each other".

It seems like quite a pointed message to the players who chose to put themselves before the club - if you don't want to be here, the door's over there!

One swallow and all that. I don't see a win over Burton as the panacea of all our shortcomings. If we lose to Creepy on Monday and Gillingham win on Tuesday, plus their game in hand, they're only 5 points behind. That's 5 points from dropping out the play off places.

And thats how it should always be chris .. it appears some (players/management/board) may have taken their eye off the ball somewhat and allowed things to drift

I've said this before and been proved wrong but maybe, just maybe, todays result will prove to be massive

Southend Til I Die .. and proud of the lads today, make me proud Monday please .. then Saturday .. and on .. and on .. and on

Every silver lining has a cloud and all that ... jeez you are more downbeat than i usually am

Wouldnt want that - I dont mind Dicko getting back onto the bench, but nothing more. Winning team is important and sounds like Sampson worked hard today and I'm pleased Harris is back in. Keep those front 2 for now and let Dicko fight to get back in after being dropped.

That will send a good message out not only to Dicko, but to the rest of the squad.
