Two more league defeats and i reckon RM will pull the plug on PB, on the other hand two wins and Browns top man again, maybe.

I know you support and defend Brown, but I can't agree with that.

Bentley and Payne were always great prospects that were here a long time before Brown was. They were youth products and whilst yes, he did well developing them, you can't incorporate them into his 'transfer policy'.

Tilson paid £40k for Eastwood and sold him for £1.5m. £175k for Bailey and sold him for £750k. Hooper for free, sold him for £175k plus substantial add ons. I know he also signed his fair share of duds, but those are examples of a decent transfer policy. I can't think of one of Brown's signings that we've sold for profit.

My point was it is not his policy. No manger at any club wants his best two assets to leave and not be able to spend a single penny to replace them. Aston Villa did that last summer and look what happened to them.

Her Ladyships mother follows the shrimpers without ever going to a game, via the Echo and BBC Essex. Even she knows the reason that we have not spent any money this summer is down to people who own the club rather than mange it.

By the way if you won't give PB any credit for Jack Payne. Then surely West Ham and Grays must get all the credit for Freddy or how about Barnet for Nicky Bailey.

I am certainly not a great lover of Brown but I really don't think sacking him is going to make a lot of difference. Take Bentley and Payne out of last seasons team and we would have been relegated.
With the resources we have its hard to see even the best managers in the World making much difference. Thanks to Ron Martins constant failure in getting the new ground built the club is on borrowed time and unless something changes the club could well implode soon and we could soon go out of busness

I think PB needs to pull his finger out pronto!
BUT...as quoted above, there are people who have always had a"dislike" of a manager who has increased our league standing every season he has been here and managed us to arguably the greatest day in our history.,
Yes PB is running out of Brownie Points but this post tells the truth - some dislike him on a personal basis.

Yes I dislike Brown on a personal level. I don't think is a very nice bloke and I think has shown a lot of disrespect to the team the club and definately alienated certain players out of the football club.

There are lots of managers I haven't liked much but if the team is playing with pride passion and commitment then the manager is doing his job. That on Saturday wasn't just tactically inept it was devoid of effort and commitment and I won't tolerate that.

We have had plenty of **** over the yeas and tilly managed to get distinctly average players playing well above themselves. Brown does the opposite. Gets good players looking devoid of belief and drained of quality.

Leonard and coker being prime examples.

Strange you say you don't kike Brown, but as your stats prove you don't like anybody. But then you claim Brown has assembled a better squad than Tilson without spending any transfer money.

So are you saying keep Brown in a 'Director of Football' position and get in someone just to coach the team

I'm confused?

When I have said Brown has a better squad? He certainly has been given a better budget than tilly could have dreamt of. The team that got us promoted as champions was made up of very average players who played out of their skin each week to grind out wins. Freddy aside we had no superstars. In fact I'd say that the team that ambled to a play off promotion under Brown was a better squad man for man than the one that won the league title in league 1. Freddy was the difference.

Brown has had some real talent and backing to work with and has not used or got the best out of players.

The effort level on Saturday was criminal. That to me says the team are either not responding to his coaching or they are not prepared to play for him. When that happens you need a new team or a new manager.

Prove it.

How about a list of players bought by each manager

Forget all the toing and froing with who has the best squad, who spent the most money. The last paragraph of Tommy's post sums it all up for me and I find it hard that anyone could argue to the contrary as all he mentions is 'effort' not ability.

If the Team lost games but tried their best and run their nuts off for the Team, the Manager and the Supporters then I would almost guarantee that the level of disappointment both at RH and on SZ would have been minimal compared to what it is know.

No need Tommy, Westy has already called rigsby out on this.

1.7m 2004 - just under 3m 2014

That's from the published accounts.

Anything else you want to make up?

Please bear in mid 1.7m in 2004 was worth a lot lot more than that 10 years later- and in that time wages grew substantially (probably well above inflation). And thats if the numbers are right.

I can tell you already that everyone will produce "facts" that prove they are right and others are wrong- the exercise is pointless. Whether PB gets the best out of players will be a case in point as will whether Tilly did (Hooper anyone?). Just all pointless, as is the whole Brown out debate. He will get to Xmas at least come what may I suspect (Ron waited for two successive relegations before getting rid of Tilly). And I am pretty confident by then things will be much rosier anyway (my view- hope I'm right).

The only benefit I can see of having a demo would be to identify who to give new seats in away end to... probably do wonders for the atmosphere around me.

Not really. I've read endless posts about PB's budget by people who haven't got a clue, but claim otherwise. Well in true tradition, does anyone want a bet with the winnings going to shrimperzone.

How about this if anyone wants to back £3m in 2014 I'll give you 10/1 minimum bet £10.

How about a straight bet on £2m....any takers.

What is the point of comparing Tilly's budget with Browns? Its meaningless without knowing how slaaries have changed over the years. More to the point I don't see how the comparrion proves that Brown is/is not the right man for the job '

Rigsby- I do have one question . Do you think Saturdays performance was acceptable ? If No what do you believee the major reasons for the performance were and what can be done to improve things ?

I just want SUFC to be sucessfull. I still haven't made up mind up on Brown after 3 1/2 years. He does a lot that I like, and a lot I dislike. I don't pretend to have any idea of what is going on , but Saturday was awfull and I don't really see how anyone can defend it . I don't 'buy' the 'wait untill I have my squad assembled, and wait until the players come back from injury ' arguments. Players will always be injured, its not like we have 6 out injured . Why are the players we do have fit playing so badly? Why are they so short of confidence - Surely its the point of the manager to give them the confidence ?

Its interesting that we are putting our hopes on : Timlin, a player a lot of fans maon about due to him giving away pocession when trying the defence splitting pass, a player who has had his fair share of injuries and Ranger a player many didn't want here , and a player with no preseason who Brown has said will get injured from time to time- based on 25 minutes of one match?never things are 'bad' we always seem to think the answer is whoever is on the bench or injured. Last week the answer was 'Bridge' he started , but that didn't sunddenly make averyone else play well , and he ended up going off.

For what its worth and I don't claim to know I suspect £3m is the entire staff budget not the playing budget- in any event someone will have to work out the comparison in constant £ as £1 in 2004 was worth a lot more than £1 in 2014..
