This whole story may or may not be true, but would a local man who supports the club and has PL experience be a good Assistant Manager to a younger coach such as Poyet?

Again whilst I dont dismiss it I do wonder how its possible as clubs cant simply speak to managers that are under contract.

So either he has permission to apply or theres some other reason he can.

No I don't wish to be accused of ***** stirring. Had a chat with a family friend this afternoon who is in a good position to make such a judgement and he tells me Phil Brown has applied for the job at Sunderland. My Opinion is if he has, and I wouldn't normally question this friend in question, then I don't think he will get it. Honestly what I have been told.:smiles:

Indeed, 'friend rumours' are pretty much always garbage.

Not dismissing this, but still not sure how a manager can apply for other jobs when under contract. Tilson wasnt even allowed to talk to Norwich let alone apply.
