Personally I dont disbelieve it.

What on earth makes Brown think he would get it. He is currently doing at best mediocre here, Sunderland have the likes of Poyet to choose from.

Guy is deluded.

Am I the only one who thinks he is hardly an improvement on Di Canio? Only difference I can see is that Poyet won't have the "fascism" thing over him. Both egotistical, both not got great history with man management and both only "proven" at the lower end of the football league tier.

Sorry to go off-topic.

No Poyet would be a far more sensible option than Di Canio. Di Canio is a nutjob, other than poo-gate Poyet did a respectable job at Brighton.

He would certainly be more attractive option than Brown.

I'd put myself as a more attractive option than Brown!

He did a decent job at Brighton, but went there at the perfect time as they had nearly finished building their new stadium. Heard a few ex-players not have kind words to say about Poyet though, especially Vincente who said he laughed at players if they missed chances in training and not speaking to him while he was injured.

You just have to look at the betting. There are over 50 more fancied to get the job than Phil Brown.

I think the only chance PB would have, was if we were sitting at the top of League 2...

Even then I just cant see any premiership side giving the job to a manager 3 divisions below. They would be a laughing stock after the Di Canio saga.

If this is true, and I personally think it could well be, then thats two clubs we know he has applied for and shows absolutely no commitment to SUFC at all. There are obviously mitigating circumstances but to me if Brown fails we are screwed, if he was to get us into the top 4 by Christmas he would jump ship the first opportunity he got anyway.

Edit : One point though after thinking it through, if this is true, how is it actually possible? Can a manager actually just apply for jobs for other clubs when contracted? Tilson was stopped from talking to Norwich, how comes Brown can just apply for who he likes? Surely therefore if he is applying it must be with Ron's permission ?

I owe you green for use of the phrase 'poo-gate'

No I don't wish to be accused of ***** stirring. Had a chat with a family friend this afternoon who is in a good position to make such a judgement and he tells me Phil Brown has applied for the job at Sunderland. My Opinion is if he has, and I wouldn't normally question this friend in question, then I don't think he will get it. Honestly what I have been told.:smiles:

Don't worry, he won't get it because he does too much media work and doesn't dedicate 100% of his waking hours to the job.

Still not sure how he has applied as clubs have to give managers permission to talk to clubs surely?

Unless he already has permission to apply for higher level jobs.

He's under contract with us, isn't he?..............they'd have to pay us compensation..........don't know whether I'm warming to the idea but perhaps Ron could be!

Yep got it in 1 sir. obviously don't have the contact(s) I have.

Are these the same contacts the believe that a football manager doing Media work in their spare time, prior to a football game is poor management?

Just a question! and another, who are your contacts? as i quote you have said before
my old man was involved in a high level of [Pro football and many contacts have agreed with what I have said.

Care to share?

SS3, stop winding him up, please....this thread has already been another one of those very painful ones!
