Um ..just one place I think.
I tend to respect your posts because they are thought out with reason.
I think as a team you can grow in confidence but what do you do with a keeper that is 'low on confidence'? drop him or keep playing him in the hope he will come good. Either of those choices could make him worse.
Do you get a psychologist in? Will that help?
From watching recently, the defence dont seem to have confidence in Smith. Is not coming off his line a 'confidence' thing.
You are right about Laird though, he has made a big difference

Great night - cracking win, huge three points. Plenty of dropped points by all of the top ten sides (Burton didn't play)...none of them won. Were somehow just two points off the play offs, shows how poor this league is.
Also, Hally and Mohsni living their dreams, Hally didn't make the Leeds bench for some reason in their 1-0 loss and the superstar Bilel was an unused sub in Ipswich spanking at Palace.
Oh to top it off, Col Ewe lost at home

What ever your views are , he is likely to remain in goal for us , so let's just get off his case and get behind him.

I'm sure the Smith debate will roll on all season.
Every mistake - he's the worst keeper we've had.
Every save - he's just what we need.

As fans you get behind him.
As a manager, I'm not sure as it depends on the individual as not everyone reacts the same way. The fact that he's played so many games and at such a high level though suggests that he's got the mental strength to get through it, so I'd stick with him.
What happens when players are low on confidence is that they start playing conservatively, because they are afraid of making a mistake. Their decision-making becomes hesitant. For a keeper that means they are less likely to leave their line. I don't know how much he comes off his line when he is confident though. No-one seemed to care when Flahavan was in goal!
That will be a first to get behind all our players.Definitely agree. He has his faults like most keepers. We need to get behind all our players to start moving up the table.
just a little surprised (really??) at our fickle "fans", so quick to jump on a player's back during the game, yet when victory was gained through a "team effort"....they're all fantastic
Get a life fellow shrimpers...it's a marathon, not a sprint
