Question Bridgey and Mark Gower similarities…

I’m sure there was a point when he was in the prem that he had the highest pass accuracy, or certainly close to. Gower is possibly the most complete footballer I’ve seen play for us and I actually don’t think we saw the best of him!

What’s funny is he used to get a fair amount of criticism on here if I remember rightly. We were lucky to have him for as long as we did.

Edit: It may have been chances created. A quick google showed this from a Mail article in 2011.

Yes a portion of our fans thought gower was lazy and crap. 😆

I like Bridge as a player and he has been loyal to the club but as a player Gower was streets ahead of him.Gower played at the top and I remember him getting 10 goals from midfield in a our championship season.Pretty impressive considering he was playing in a team that was relegated

Gower, what a player, and what a man. Played against him in my first charity match, and was unplayable.

One of my favourites, and I couldn’t believe the stick he used to get. Didn’t surprise me at all he played top flight football. Unbelievable player, and unlike a lot of wide players, had consistency to his game. A real match winner, and we had plenty at the time.

Bridge is the closest we’ve got to him, and is a match winner, but played at different levels. Love Bridgey, and his loyalty in unquestionable, what a player he is too.

KAF the new Ron Pountney is another good comparison at present.
Always remember Ron P name for many years graffitied on the side of the shop at the north east entrance in Vic AVE like a true club legend.
Ron still comes to the occasional game. Always have a chat with him over in the West stand.
