Question Bridgey and Mark Gower similaritiesā€¦

He was absolutely class. Barely any stick beyond usual occasional fan frustration - we loved that double promotion side and he was right at the heart of it all. Probably my favourite team in 40 years of following Southend šŸ„²
That's not my recollection. I remember him getting loads and completely unjustified criticism from people who knew better.

I remember one game, possibly at home to Swindon, when he had a stinker by his own high standards. Then in the dying seconds he scored a fine winner. And there were some on here afterwards who said he should have been subbed regardless.

Gower was a top player.Real quality and one of the few things Steve Wignall got right at Southend Utd.
Gower had a really good career and was well thought of at Swansea City too.Done well post playing too as a scout or something for Liverpool. No disrespect to Bridge but Gower was a totally different level

and he has to pay to attend.

Should be given a free season ticket for his loyalty.

Someone should ask Mr Rees .
I believe Ronnie did have a complimentary season ticket and a car park pass at one time possibly when John Main was chairman??(then they were removed?) At that time there was a older chap who sat behind me in the East Greens who also had one, not sure why but he was not a former playeer. However when it was taken away from him he refused to return to Roots Hall and never did. Sadly passed away quite a few years ago.

No comparison

Bridge is a useful squad player at national league level that is just often hit as he is miss..

Gower played championship and premiership football and was able to dictate games and create chances and score goals.

Gower was an excellent winger at a higher level.

Bridge doesn't have the brain or awareness to play much above the current level. He can't even get in the team.

While we are comparing apples with oranges, why not compare collymore to drew Broughton.

Gower would cut inside and belt it. Bridge would cut outside then inside then outside then inside, which worked for a time but hasn't really this season!
This is the main difference, Bridge cuts inside but will do almost anything to avoid shooting despite it being a very good option. I've never understood why, give it a go!!!
