How will harsh sanctions help our car industry that you want to pump billions into?

How are we going to sell cars to our largest market if they don't meet the EU's safety requirements?

Would it be better for our car industry if we were involved in setting those safety requirements, by far example being part of a single market with common standards, thereby reducing compliance costs for UK companies seeking to export to their nearest export market?

How are we going to source the necessary expertise whilst operating a hostile immigration policy?

How are we going to produce these cars without reliable supply chains that bring in the parts/raw materials not available in this country?

What competition requirements are holding back the UK car industry?

How are "we" going to fund these thousands jobs? Are you suggesting reviving British Leyland or are you wanting to subsidise the profits of foreign car manufacturers?

And when are those Germany car manufacturers that you blindly believe will rescue us, going to come to our rescue?



Same here. If only people and our politicians could stand up for themselves instead of hiding behind and blaming the EU or a very narrow vote two years ago.

1) Sanctions hurt the EU because we spend £90b per year more with them....That's a basic rule of business.
2) Why wouldn't we meet safety requirements? We already have stricter rules in some industries

5) Its bad products that ruined the British car industry.

Corbyn and Abbot wanted victory for the IRA not peace. It was only when the IRA were losing they turned to peace. Labour have since lied and claimed they were talking peace all along.

Abbot described the Protestant community as like white settlers in Africa and should be booted out. Baring in mind the situation in Ulster at the time that was incitement to murder.

The notions of accepting defeat and accepting democracy could have some value if what had happened since the referendum result had been handled differently.


Democracy? After the court cases to keep Parliament out of Brexit, the 'back my Brexit' election that ended with a loss of mandate, the creation of new peers to fix the Lords, today deals were cut among the Tories to cut Parliament's influence further and leave it in the hands of David Davis or whoever his successor is if one of his threats to resign stops being a bluff.


The leaving of the EU it is argued is not going to fit the picture that was sold during the campaign. That has been discussed many times about lies that were peddled by Cameron and Osborne on one side and Farage and Johnson on the other. But putting that to one side - we are being asked to accept what exactly? Two years on and the cabinet doesn't have a style of Brexit for us to accept and get behind. If it was the Houses of Commons and Lords that couldn't agree or even the government that couldn't agree that would be bad enough but to be told to back something that even the Cabinet can't agree on? How is that manning up? Surely that is weakness personified to blindly accept....who knows what, and to goad those who don't fall into line.


It's embarrassing that anyone is willing to accept where we are right now let alone mock other people for not getting behind.....no one knows. Two years on and May had barely moved on from Brexit means Brexit. It's embarrassing that you feel that is good enough.

1) The question was how does that help us, not how does it hurt the EU. Trade is not a zero sum game.
2) Because their safety requirements could be different and if we have stricter rules why were Brex**itters constantly moan about EU regulations stifling Britain?

When Corbyn made the first mention of the Foreign Secretary's quotes - what the hell happened to May? Her face just froze in what my daughter's refer to as resting bitch face (not a phrase I would use) while Boris Johnson sat ****ing himself laughing at her discomfort. She then went into her standard mode of answering every question about the government's Brexit dealings by referring back to Labour - does she not actually want to be in government? Where is the resonsibility? Where is the white paper?

Then Bercow's shambolic dealing with Ian Blackford and the whole of the SNP walking out.

Lots of pantomime and not really looking like a Parliament capable of dealing with the very real and very soon tasks that they are required to deal with.

The Labour situation shows how Brexit fails on the details. The 90 were voting to stay in the EEA which is a policy close to the Labour policy but falls down on the detail. The 90 approve of staying in the EEA despite the detail. Of the 6 who resigned front bench positions in order to vote the way they chose I have only heard of one of them. Strangely she resigned so she could vote against EEA rather than abstain (she is MP for a Leave area).

So what happens next?
The PM is expected as early as today to come up with the wording of an amendment which meets her promises to both Brexiteers and Remainers — a tough ask. Remainers say if it does not go far enough they will propose — and could win — their own amendment within days. That could prompt Brexiteers to trigger a Conservative leadership election — which they may do anyway if they think the PM has rolled over for the Remainers.
