Brexit negotiations thread

I'm not sure the decision makers will place great value on your personal opinion.

Why do you favour Dublin over Frankfurt or Paris?

The point is..... these jobs will be moving from the UK. It doesn't actually matter where.

All EU related jobs currently based in the UK will be relocated to an EU Member State.

Ha! This particular older voter wasn't allowed a vote in the referendum anyway.

Needless to say (I imagine) I would have voted Remain if I'd been given the chance.

So after two years of non stop negative links about how bad Brexit will be....you only imagine that you would have voted remain...I had little sympathy with Pubeys post but perhaps he has a point....

Possibly he prefers Ireland as it would make it easier for an English speaker worker to relocate with the job.....

I don't know, it's practically a different language.

All the commentary and predictions on Brexit over here are negative. Dublin is definitely picking up a fair amount of jobs but that won't outweigh the negatives of their reliance on the UK to bankroll their tourism sector and obviously the spectre of a hard border to the North lingers on.

Yes you did. You may not have noticed at the time, but you did vote on our continued membership of both the Customs Union and the Single Market. Some of us did try and tell everyone this, but we were drowned out by the "don't listen to experts" comments from the likes of Michael Gove and Nigel Farage pointing towards a bus.

Forget everything else about our membership to the EU, the absolute key thing was our continued ability to trade freely across Europe and across the world as a member of the EU.

And this is why dumbing down the most complex issue imaginable into a "yes / no" vote was at best complete madness on behalf of David Cameron or sheer incompetence.

I did not get a vote on membership of either the Customs Union nor the Single Market.

The question on my referendum voting slip was about membership of the EU.

Norway is a member of the Single Market and not of the EU.
Turkey is a member of the Customs Union and not of the EU (not that you would know that from the misinformation put out by the Leave campaign).

It seems that a lot of the big US companies in my industry also (allegedly) favour Dublin, English speaking in the single market, think TUIB might be right on this one.

yep, plenty of global pharma have set up major offices out there and I think it'll continue.

As you're doubtless fully aware, my "needless to say" remark, refers to the first part of my sentence rather than the conditional part.:raspberry:

That's what I said and what I meant.
