He has a nice cell in solitary with a laptop TV etc. Saw it on the news yesterday.

Dont worry about the 21 years, thats a minimum, he will never be released.
 
21 years is the maximum sentence they can give. After this time they can re-apply to add a further 5 years and continue to do so at the end of each 5 year period.

Well its spacious, has 3 rooms if I heard right, but its still a cell, not a hotel suite.

However theres nothing in it, the laptop is stuck to the desk. Why he needs a laptop I have no idea. He isnt going to be connected to the internet surely.

Well I certainly will be ignoring his Facebook friend request.
 
There's alot of ill informed outrage on twitter about it all stemming from poor reporting as far as I can see.

As others have mentioned, 21 years is the maximum sentance a Norwegian court can give, but if he's considered a threat to society at the end of it he can be detained. I'd highly doubt he'll ever get out. As for the 'comfy 3 room cell', it's still a cell, he'll never get to see other prisoners or the outside world. He's getting exactly what he deserves.

Some people seem to be ****ed off that he's not been declared insane, not sure why? That would mean he has a excuse for his actions and see him locked up in a secure mental hospital not a prison.
