We'll have none of this 'up to date' malarky, thank you very much.

Valid points from the mayor. And, sad to admit, I think most people DO have a favourite Premier$hite team as well as supporting a lower league outfit. It's one of the first things I am asked after I reveal I am a Southend fan : "Ah! That's nice. But who do you REALLY support?" It really gets up my nose ...

A valid explanation for the photograph, it was taken not in his official capacity as Mayor but as a private memento.

I think therefore the petition had the desired effect and has also opened up a dialouge between the fans and the leader of the council at a time when we and the club need them on-side.

Good work Naps and the rest of the team, this is just the sort of thing that (I believe) the site should be doing.

Well, causing controversy yes. But also asking questions that need to be asked and having the weight of a significant number of people behind you to get answers.

Exactly...

That's the power of a site like this.

Napster sits in SZ towers, planning to take over the world.

I have to say, I thought it was quite a strong reaction at the time but I'm not going to come on here with an 'I told you so type post'.

Instead, I think the whole episode has been beneficial for all parties involved. We've given the mayor a greater awareness of public feeling for SUFC and the mayor has given us a greater understanding of his support for Southend, no doubt aiding his personal perception.

What shall we complain about next......
