A very scrappy game which we deserved to win but there were IMO some very odd decisions by Kev especially taking off our front two so early and when we were only 1 up and they had been causing Braintree no end of trouble. It killed our attack.

Still it's 3 points on the board and TBH Braintree did not offer a lot. We didn't play well but we got the result needed. Bim is a class above and i doubt we will be able to keep him much longer. Bonne on the other hand IMO is still a total waste of space.

Well done the travelling 1600 and lets see what happens against the mighty Southport on Saturday.

An away win against local opposition who are scrapping for their lives, on a **** poor pitch.

Will take that all day long.

Perhaps made slightly hard work of it.

I'd personally have kept Bim and Kendall on for longer. I don't think there was a *need* to make those substitutions on 60 mins, and changed the dynamics a bit. Felt more like 75th or 80th minute subs.

The front two going off certainly changed the dynamic. I understood Bim as he was on a yellow and the ref seemed to take exception to him, but didn't get Kendall going off. It's a huge drop off when those front two go off. Kendall harries defenders and keeps them honest, and we all know how good Bim is.

However, a great result going into the new year and we simply have to keep hold of Golding! Miley backed up his home performance again and the whole back line contributed to another clean sheet.

We really need to address the lack of pace and attacking prowess from midfield, and with Moncur seemingly leaving, even more so now.

Overall, a great two results over the Christmas period and if we progress in the cup, it will be a really good start to the year. Roll on Saturday and hopefully some good news regarding Bim staying 🤞

They’re a horrible team to play against, in that they’re **** but also dirty bastards. Take that win in this part of the season with a packed schedule, and helps to build up some momentum. More positives than negatives for sure.

Collin 6 Still looks shaky with any ball in the air in the box.
Taylor 7 Solid.
Golding 8 So composed and confident both on and off the ball.
Ralph 7 Solid.
GSM 7 An outlet down the right but limited impact in attack.
Coker 8 The closest we have to a creative midfielder, helps put us on the front foot regularly.
Miley 8 The best from him in some time, nothing was getting past him.
Husin 7 Tidy on the ball and positioned well off it.
Bridge 6 Gets himself in the right positions but his end product has vanished this season.
Pepple 8 A class above everyone else on the field.
Kendall 7 A hard worker and makes things happen, even if it wasn’t quite as effective as Boxing Day.

Subs
Walker - Let’s hope that injury isn’t too bad, a horrible tackle.
Bonne 4 Would do everyone a favour if he retired already.
Gubbins - A lump to head things away.
Morton - Watched the ball move around.
KAF - Brought some much needed energy for the final minutes.

Our biggest issue is the massive downgrade when we take off Kendall and Bim. I get Kev’s logic behind it, but when the second pairing are such a step down, we put ourselves on the back foot immediately.

Three points, a clean sheet, a solid win, and only 6 off the play-offs.

Can't think of the last time I was so pleased to have to work late.

It's a result that we needed but turgid & dull doesn't even get close. I know DAZN gave MoM to Miley but I thought Goulding was excellent as was Taylor. I hope Kendall can nick one soon as he needs a start given I can't see Bim being with us much longer.

As for the rest of the game it was park football at best. I'm going to watch my local rugby team on Saturday when I'll see a committed & exciting buch of lads attempting to play entertaining sport. I feel that will be a better option than watching SUFC struggle against a team a level below us..

Resilient performance. Type of game we could easily have lost a few seasons ago.

Cav my MoM. Best performance of the season.

Goulding was dominant at the back. If we could secure him for longer that would be great.

After a backfoot 2nd half, a very welcome 3 points.

That was an uncomfortable watch.
I think Golding a class act. Right now, his departure would be up there with Pepple's.
Better than me will explain what the subs brought?
I can see the reason to refresh, but though we have a full bench, it's not all that, is it?
Glad the opposition was Braintree.
And of course, the referee was poor; he's this level after all. And by poor, I mean for both sides.
Advantage? What's that all about?

An awful spectacle, with very little quality on show. Not helped by a boggy pitch of course.

Not sure why Bim and Kendall were hooked on the hour. That killed the little threat we had, stone dead. Bim perhaps as he was on a yellow?

Still, it’s 3 points and a banana skin avoided at least. Need to up these performance levels though, as that wasn’t great again today.
