may i suggest that our supporters avoid going onto the Bradford fans messageboard after the game

talk about tempting fate by goading them before the match

I expect PS will go at the end of the season. RM is desperate for promotion and it's becoming clear after 2 seasons that he's not the man for the job.

Do you remember how many players he had on the books when he first started? He would of had to been some sort of miracle worker to get us promoted that year!

Maybe I would agree if it were just one or two, but it's the whole bloody team! Clohessey, our Right back is looking fav for player of the season. A position which is arguably the least important on the pitch.
Why is right back the least important position for us?

Perhaps. But he's ha a lot more quality to work with this season and we've nowt to show for it aside from a pretty flukey run in 2011 which has ultimately amounted to nothing!

maybe Ron doesn't want automatic promotion and an indifferent set of results between now and the season would see us in the play-off places

just think of the extra revenue generated by 3 extra games through turnstile and TV money :winking:

Sturrock has made some mistakes yes but the players aren't (totally) mindless children and are ultimately culpable for their pathetic performances. Between them they should have enough talent to beat the likes of Bradford but there seems to be a lack of fight, there has been for some time. I can only think of Northampton away where we were up against it and fought back and showed some spirit. It's just **** poor.

The players take the brunt of the blame from me. Spineless, gutless and abject.

We're 5th in the league as it stands, in the play-offs, and still a chance with auto's (even though I'm 99% sure we won't finish in the top 3). Not exactly a poor season?

You have to wonder when the pre Christmas position was so rosey and since he has added to the squad and therefore, it should have got better, not worse.

Yes he started with little but, as the man responsible for the team results, he has 'managed' a shocking transformation.

You're about two weeks late on this thought, we have already been through this scenario.

We've gone from being in a "nailed on" to win auto promotion position in December to a whimper. Look at our form in 2012. Disastrous!

I agree the form has been bad, and the result today was woeful. But we are Southend, not Barcelona, we aren't going to run away with the league. The standard of football in League 2 means that anything can happen really. If someone told me we were going to finish 5th before the season started I would have said 'yes thanks that would do nicely'.

Plus we all know going to Wembley and winning the playoffs will be more exciting then finishing 3rd.

as a non regular on here, who doesn't have time to go through every post, i apologise for not knowing that beforehand

kesteril I agree. I've said many times not to goad, over hype and become complacent. We have done exactly this on here and I said the bump would be hefty and thats whats happened. Same with Freddy. But to say that doesbn't mean I'm pessismistic. Just common sense.

Finishing fifth will not be easy; even seventh place may take some doing. It's just as well that Crawley snatched that draw against Crewe and Bristol Rovers snatched a draw against Gillingham........ the only bit of good news this afternoon.

Think it was Gillingham that snatched the draw.

But yes a win on Monday and a couple of other results going our way would all but secure a play off spot? Not sure about our chances in the play offs though, we will need to up our game, forget about all the talk before the games and do it on the pitch!!!
