A Bit of Fun Brace yourselves....

It's pure speculation of course, but is it any worse than The Emirates, Reebok, Fitness****ing First etc?

The Emirates is a crap name. I don't mind the Reebok. Fitness First is terrible.

Stobarts Stadium. As Mad Cyril said,

"It conjures up an image of a fat nothern git who bores people to death talking about rugby league."

I understand the value of stadium sponsorship, and agree it is needed, but i just feel that name is poor...

Personal Preference of course.

If we're going to go down the naming rights route, let's do it like they do in Nashville, Tennessee....

Irrespective if and when we move to FF, it will have a sponsors name be it Stobart or PoundShops.com.

It will probably come out that they have agreed to sponsor the first teams socks or something

Honestly I can see the Stobart Group wanting to use the club for marketing to raise awareness for the airport over the next 2 to 3 years but I dont see why they would want to buy the club and i cant see Ron wanting to sell down his stake till he has finished the project he started.

What is stopping RM selling the football club and retaining the development side of things ?

When I stayed in Nashville my hotel was over the road, they had a concert in a few days later....Elton John. How appropriate.

I would be more than happy if Stobart bought into the club, generate a bit more cash, get the stadium up and running.

TBH the 'Stobart Stadium' sounds better than alot ie. The KitKat Stadium or whatever it's called! These days it's inevitable the stadium will be named after a corporate sponsor, but the fans will come up with our own name for it anyway so naming it after Stobarts or anyone else doesn't especially bother me.

In time people we may even grow to like it, Chicago Cubs Wrigley Field is named after the chewing gum company who invested in the club to begin with, they're no longer the owners but can you bet the people of Chicago would be up in arms if they tried to change the name now.

At the end of the day, RM has said he will be looking into sponsors for the new stadium. So we will end up with The Stobarts Stadium, or The Nike Arena, or HSBC Stadium, whoever the sponsors turn out to be.

Not a big fan of sponsors being the name of the stadium, I prefer traditional names, but at the end of the day if someone comes in waving a load of cash in front of us to have their name on the stadium we will bite their hands off.

I guess there is nothing stopping potentially that from happening, except you then need to find a somewhat less than sane person to buy a football club that spends more than it earns
