A Bit of Fun Brace yourselves....

Load of rubbish. I can stamp this rumour out now! The Stobart Group will not be buying Southend United.

Was waiting for you to come in and trample all over this! Can't see Spud coming back in a million years.

Well ladies and gentlemen, I don't often make comment on here but things are about to change. Tilly is on his last legs and his replacement is rumoured to be a local boy of old. Mr P.T!!!! Mr Martin has been clearing the family photos today(he never works on a Sunday!). The next two weeks will be very interesting!!!!!!..... ES is the man. RM is putting in for his own stake though. £500k a year + place on board. Watch this space!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolute nonsense about Tilly/Taylor... and if Martin was 'clearing the photos' today, then we'd surely hear something tomorrow.

Like I said...rumour!!!!!

'Made up' then... to be fair you have no history or track record on SZ, so I doubt many will believe you.

Stobart doing something with SUFC I can believe in some capacity, Tilson being ousted for Peter Taylor is rubbish and would be met with a lynching I would suspect.

Well that one statement I can categorically state is a load of old tosh. And you really think that with the new stadium plans this far advanced that RM would bale out now and hand it all over to someone else to reap the potential benefits from? I doubt it very much.

Carlisle's away kit in recent times has been based on the Stobart livery. Hmm, lovely...

Rather more tastefully, they've been involved with Widnes RLFC. Apparently a lot of people who like Eddie Stobart lorries (odd folk) and couldn't give a monkey's about rugby league have bought Widnes shirts the last couple of years. Widnes' stadium is now known as The Stobart Stadium too

I totally agree-a very unpopular choice given Tilly's record and the fan's adoration! However, when a new man wants to make his mark he inevitebaly wants to do things himself and take a deal of control over matters. I am not suggesting PT will be the man-just a possible favoured manager of the new owner (however popular/unpopular!). I myself would be a little miffed if PT or anyone else came to elbow Tilson out. What I would be excited about would be the financial muscle of someone who is already attempting to stamp their mark in the region.

With regards to your remarks about track record on SZ I'm not really bothered about believabilaty as I can can live without spending my time on here. Just reporting what I've heard from long standing members of the club over the weekend. Also, as a season ticket/card etc holder of over ten years I am probably fed up with rumoured start dates for construction of new stadium (having being told first hand by Ron/Geoff et al 1st August).

Do you know what the next few weeks hold for us!!

James, it's technicalities, much like Cricko forgetting dloman's raffle donation yesterday - we can surmount the green and red rubbish easily, just might need a little persuasion.

I understand a new 'chairman/owner' wanting his own people, but this situation is a little unique - we aren't struggling on the pitch and have been successful with Tilly at the helm, plus he is a Southend legend, so I would highly doubt he would be removed, no matter the preference of a new regime.

Someone coming in and replacing Tilly off the bat would put them right on the back foot (especially replacing him with Taylor) and that would be massively difficult to turn the fans around.

Will be interesting what happens though, but wish your story sounded like it had more substance than rumour, hearsay and guesswork.

To be fair most stories are guess work or rumour on this site! That's what keeps everyone going! If I'm wrong, then what the hell. If I've heard the right stuff then bloody marvellous!!!!! I love SUFC and spend a lot of cash there just like everyone else on here and can't wait for the new stadium etc. What I'm positive everyone else is questioning are the constant hurdles/delays/lack of investment in playing staff...

i'd rather it be stobbarts than some oil rich tycoon.

Whys that? moneys money at the end of the day. I'd take any benefactor now.

People saying that they dont want the stadium called Stobarts, they need to wise up also. Stadium sponsorship is an imperative part of funding these days.

I couldnt give a monkeys what the stadiums called so long as we have a new one to go too.

Tongue in cheek...Sundays! However-property part of planning (flats etc)still RM- he could take the cash reportedly??! The rest... well ...time will tell...

I would like to see Eddie Stobart change their name - preferably to something like Roots Hall haulage, Roots Hall aerofreight or Roots Hall logistics.

Eddie Stobart may be holding the folding but the name doesn't fit in with the sophisticated brand of total football that has become synonymous with Southend United.

It conjures up an image of a fat nothern git who bores people to death talking about rugby league.

I feel no need whatsoever to 'wise up'.

It's my personal preference that i think 'The Stobarts Stadium' is a **** name.
