BNP In your area!

Actually that is a Lib Dem policy or only skilled people been given access to work in the area of their job ;) . As i said for "normal" people it could work , for the two quoted . No their highly skilled military personnel who are also nutters . While i say i am a Lib Dem i have looked at the other polices there are good ones all round . Immigration must be looked at in the context of the wider world not just as a single isolated island we are not that , we cant stop what's happning either physcially or economical.

PC stuff its local councils and local hospital authorities , plus football wise we have ourself s to blame (as do the Dutch and Germany's) for that legacy

TB: Hackney has always been a vicious area stop being silly (i know people who grew up there in late 70's early 80's the gun and knife crime isnt worse its more publicly reported)

Yeah and there was ethnics there in the 70s early 80s your point?

This Sunday over here is Anzac Day, the Aussie/Kiwi version of Remembrance Day. My daughter at school today is laying flowers at the local memorial and also on the day itself takng part in the actual Anzac Day parade. We'll be getting up at 5-30 so she can march at 6-30 with serving soldiers and veterans, relatives of armed forces who've died. The idea is that the kids, fuure generations, are what they fought for and they should be a part of it. They are also learning all about what Anzac Day is all about, my little girl now has an understanding (as much as a not quite 5 year old can) of why this day is important.

Couple of reasons why this is relevant to this thread -

1: Nothing wrong with a bit of pride in where you live IMO. Be that your street, town, country. If everyone had pride in where they live then wherever that is would be a better place. I know it sounds old fashioned but civic pride and responsibility in your community are good things.

2: We are immigrants in Australia. My little girl is taken part alongside Aussie's as an equal. She may still have her Pommy accent but this is her home and she's intergrating and equally importantly is being allowed to intergrate.

There are issues in the UK and over here where certain immigrant communities don't integrate and that IS an issue. It's a two way street after all. I don't believe in a come one, come all and bring your whole culture and way of life with you wholesale. Immigrants to any culture have a responsibilty to become part of the broader community, for myself I live my life largely as a born and bred Aussie would - including having my daugther take part in the Anzac Day parade.

In return we have to make hard working, decent immigrants welcome. Allow them to practice their own religious beliefs and bring a taste of their own culture to add to the mix. That's happened for hundreds of years in Britain and long may it continue.

I might have taken the video of their manifesto launch a bit more seriously if there wasn't a fat bloke dressed as St George (who was from Lebanon) in the background.

A lot of things in that manifesto actually do need to happen.

The mainstream parties will need to start addressing many of the issues raised sooner rather than later.

Let us not beat about the bush. The BNP are vile scum who have no place in society. Believe me, I've met them close up (and not at a protest, but I still got an eyeful of pepper spray).

Those that vote them broadly fall into three categories.

a. racist.
b. stupid
c. desperate

Now, the first category is very easy. These people know what the BNP stand for, know what they are about. They go in with their eyes open. Don't believe me? Just refer to Griffin's comments about standing on the same platform as the Klu Klux Klan.

The second category is those people who read the nice little election leaflets espousing a better Britain and believe it and read some of the garbage about Christmas being banned and believe that as well. The BNP propaganda machine is very good, very effective and other parties could learn from it. It is for these people that I've spend a few hours handing out leaflets of my own. I'd suggest if you are offered one (and I believe they are leafleting outside the Southend v Stockport game), take one and read it. This is an organisation that believes rape is acceptable (because like chocolate, women like sex).

The third group is the really tricky one, because none of the major parties seem to be very good and they are all tarnished with the Expenses Scandal. So people wont vote for them. Because of the 3 party system we have in England options of where to cast your vote are limited. But there is a viable option.

Whatever happens in this election, there will be shed loads of tactical voting going on as people in Labout / Lib Dems camps will switch to avoid the Tories. It makes no difference here because the Tory candidates in Southend are as nailed on as it gets, but a vote for any party counts in terms of turnout. So if you can't bring yourself to vote Tory, Lib Dem or Labour, then vote for the Greens. They wont win any seats, but enough votes for them could cause the BNP to lose their deposits. In all honesty, I expect that is what I will do come Election Day.

Lord football isnt it funny how with live in a country that has freedom of speech and democracy yet when a party come along that the majority dont like then its the old " they shouldnt be allowed"

They are a legitimate party who are gaining seats and you want to know who is to blame for that , then look no further labour and conservative who have royally screwed the country over. The people of this counrty have never felt so far removed and whilst this is the case the BNP will exploit the situation.

They dont get my vote, but i still appreciate that people will vote for them and i also think its a disgrace that people in certain jobs cant vote for a party. What a joke democracy is.

I'm happy to let people chose whoever they wish.

I just hope to help contribute to an education for the masses where they chose not to vote BNP. That's a lot more powerful that them being 'stopped' from voting for them.

T.

But that is the basics of democracy if the majority don;t like you, you don't get in.

Now freedom of speech different issue all together . Mind you if anyone heard the very funny interview on Radio 5 Friday evening with Steven Nolan and the BNP press security who didn't even know the date of the general election , how much teh inheritance tax limit was , that was worrying .

Read the parties polices and take time , if people do agree with them fair enough just be aware of what they stand for and what they can practically do as well.

Just watching the BNP "party political broadcast"

Looks like it was filmed for a fiver. They want to run the country do they ?

What a load of crap, would be funny if they werent actually serious.

Agreed,

So much of the things they say I can help but agree with

1) Bringing home the troops
2) Stop foreign aid = More money for pensions
3) British People put first.

And the list goes on. But they let themselves down so much with the appauling marketing and commercials. Griffin is not likeable and I think the name BNP will always be associated with hatred.

The principal that British people should be looked after first I would have thought would have appealed to most voters but its the way they relate back to the war etc and have pictures of Churchill in the backround.

Its not the way I would have done it had I been in charge.

Im sure they could make a 3 minute video that didnt look homemade.

Nick Clegg just walks around with bits of paper on the floor, hardly Hollywood budget.

If they want to be taken seriously they need to at least look on the outside like an organisation capable of running the country, when at the moment they cant even seem to publicise themselves in a polished manner.

I mean, Winston Churchill in the background, whats that about?
