Interesting option....

The only person in the UK who has spent more time in court than Ron Martin..

IF he has got his problems behind him no reason why he cannot get a hatful of goals and move up the leagues again.

I'm willing to give him a chance, he seems like he genuinely regrets his past...plus we desperately need a striker.

Second chances are so fickle. If a fan committed similar offences in the stands, he would be dealt with by the police and then banned from the ground for life. Just saying :whistling:

Yeah but if they didnt commit them in the stands they wouldnt be

Not sure his is his second chance, think he had that a long time back.

So it is Nile Ranger, on a month long deal.

Provided we can keep him on a month to month deal and maintain these break clauses, I don't think it's a bad idea and could be a gamble worth taking as he does seem to have the quality. It's still a gamble though, and doubt it'll go a long way to building that team spirit which Brown almost single handedly seemed to destroy at the end of last season.

I was going to write that we ought to "give the lad a break" and "haven't we all done things when drunk/young" etc BUT mugging, beating up women AND being charged (unconvicted) with rape are streeettccchhhhiiinnnggg that line of forgive and forget a long, long way........maybe, maybe not too far.
If he comes I will judge (& support) him for how he behaves NOW as an adult 25 year old; he needs to remember his past mistakes and not repeat them AND try doubly hard to repay Mr Brown's trust.

Clutching at straws here, but it does look as though he hasn't been up before the beak for 2 years, and some of his (many) offences haven't ended in a conviction :stunned:. It's very hard to overlook his past - as an employer I probably wouldn't have him at my company. However, he looks decent, and we desperately need a decent striker. I'm prepared to support him and give him his 10th chance, let's hope it works out.

Blues to sign Nile Ranger

SOUTHEND United are to sign controversial striker Nile Ranger on an initial month long deal, Echosport can exclusively reveal.

Give him a chance, it's only a month to start with and he will have to work his butt off in pre season, hopefully prove people wrong eh:thumbsup:

Probably worth a look but I'd rather have him on trial rather than pay him some money to work out where his head is at. Not holding out much hope to be honest.

Must admit when I first heard about this I was really concerned but I hadn't been told about it being an initial month. This does seem a sensible way to assess whether there's a decent human being in there that's worth giving a chance to.
