The report states that this happened back in February, did the club know of the possible police interest when the new contract was put together I wonder? It will be interesting to see how may pages this thread goes to.

You would hope so, but can't rule anything out with Ranger given his track record.

Oh dear - much sadness abounds. That doesn't sound good at all.

Report says that the offence allegedly took place in February 2016 and therefore before he joined Southend United but it would seem that his past is catching up with him.

It will be interesting to see what transpires. As I said on another thread about Ranger .........

"But we all know the real test will come when things are not going so well - let's hope he "keeps it together" in tough times as well as good times - then the lad will have become a man."

What did I say..... Sounds a Nice Chap.....mmmm innocent until proven guilty...as they say....but with his past....Other clubs are laughing at us now

If he thought he'd got away with it then why would he have told the club? If he was charged on Monday it's quite possible that the club wouldn't have known until Monday and he may well have accepted a lower offer to rush through the new deal. Obviously a very pessimistic view but this isn't good news for him or us.

Innocent before proven guility, so lets give him the benefit of the doubt. Obviously if he's convicted then he'd have to be sacked. Bad times.

The above is very true. However, as this took place before he came to us, I think we all need to play our part and get behind him 100% both at games and behind the scenes on social media etc.

Football clubs are hardly known for taking the moral high ground, least of all ours.

There are plenty of people who have probably done worse in charge of clubs or owning clubs, not just mere players !

Innocent until proven guilty and despite his track record Nile's never actually been proven guilty of any of the charges against him. We're just gonna have to wait and see.

Looking at sentencing guidelines, this is quite a minor offence if found (or if he pleads) guilty - the scale of the offence and his culpability means it could be a community order rather than incarceration.

I hope he does plead guilty (unless he's completely innocent of course). Pay the fine, do the community service, whatever, and we can all move on.

That's a silver lining, but still quite disappointing nether less. Then again, to err is human and all that...

Timlin wasn't sacked. Inniss wasn't sent back to Palace. Ryan Hall wasn't sacked.

Jemal Johnson was sacked but he wasn't a first team player I'm sure there were good reasons for that.

Which offence are you talking about?

Think the contract has been rushed through to help with the mitigation and how he's turned his life around.
