Tough one to call.

If he's on the books at a Premier League Club then he'll be a pretty good player.

Dan Crowley is on Arsenal's books with no first team experience so to speak of, but ran the show at our place when he was playing for Barnsley this season.

Quite true. As you say its a tough one to call and its a risk. If this were the beginning of the season then no problem. But we are coming to the business end of the season with a recent derailment of form. Some experience now will probably count as much as ability. I hope he is an asset. I just hope we are also going to introduce someone who has at least tasted grown up competition.

Binbag-Williams is on the books of a Premier League club - not always a guarantee :stunned:

Let's trust in our scouting network and welcome the guy. Hopefully he will bring pace, an attacking dimension and width to our midfield.

We have Barnett and Hendrie, but what we don't have is the funds or the status to not have to take a 'risk' as you put it.

The reason Jason Williams has not featured is his 15 minutes at Chesterfield. You have to at least look interested to catch the eye of any manager.

Britt was a risk and not even with a Prem club but he had experience through loans. It's not a money issue at all. I would still be happy to see an U21 that costs no more but may have been loaned out. Maybe McQueen is brilliant. God if so but I fail to believe that even you do not accept it is high risk with what's at stake at this point in the season.

Lets just welcome him to RH and see what happens. He may be dying to get a game start and may be right up for it against Cov if he is playing....

It doesn't matter how good he is, the important question is what percentage of minutes on the field have we agreed to under his loan contract?

is he hungry and is he staying at the roslin? does he agree that immigration is the biggest problem the Uk faces, and has he been on eggheads? what's his favourite food in can?

Money is the biggest factor.....dare I say fact. We recently tried to sign someone on loan and could only offer to pay 10% of his wages.

As far as risk goes, Worrall and Hurst have provided about 3 crosses between them this season. We are not going to go down and are nicely placed for my predicted top 10 finish so I would say if your going to take a risk then now would be the time.

One thing is certain,Saints ain't loaning him to remove splinters from his posterior!

Southampton seem to be a conveyor belt of young English talent at the moment so could be a very good signing. With Worrall possibly on his way out, Weston unfit and McLaughlin injury-prone, we do look a bit light on the wings.

Oh that must be the U21 league where Southampton have won four of their twelve games and McQueen has not even been in the squad for the last two games. But I am not slating him. Just stated I was unable to appraise the signing given no form to go by.

Hi - a Saints and McQueen fan coming here to see how he does at Southend. I can understand your tentative enthusiasm as the U21 premiere league is a very variable affair. However just to keep this factual. It is the Southampton U21 side that won the U21 cup last season with McQueen a vital part of the early wins scoring and assisting goals. See this video.

McQueen has played Saints U21 since he was 16 and has scored some great goals. If you watch quickly the first goal in this video was when he was 16 going up against some experienced Exeter City players.
https://youtu.be/ktZUAOpSqvk

He has been in the preseason tour for the last two seasons scoring goals there too. He was considered good enough by Pochettino to get a debut in the FA cup v Sunderland coming on for Adam Lallana and should have been awarded a penalty in that game as Connor Whickam handled as McQueen was flicking the ball past him. That would have been the 'Great Escape'. In my opinion he could handle premiere league football as he has been as good as Shaw, Ward-Prowse or Chambers but Koeman clearly disagrees though he did see something in him when he first arrived. See

https://youtu.be/-AaPRStWSiA

He has defensive capability too starting life as a left back but switching with Shaw who started as a left wing. He is good in the air and scores with both feet.

The trouble with u21 football is the inconsistency of lineups. One week the teams have U18 or even U17 players in the squad other days there may be 3/4 recovering/frozen-out first team players. Saints U21s record this season so far shows that without McQueen playing they struggle.

And with regards to the last two games he wasn't in the U21 side because he had been playing with an injury so he was given two weeks off to recover and get fit for the loan he was hoping to go out on. I for one hope he will translate his proven U21 form into league 1 form for you shrimpers. Only time will tell.

Thanks for the info and I'm looking forward to linking up with the club. Be a good experience of playing against seasoned professionals which is a big deal for a player at this stage of his of his career and will show saints if he will cut it or not.

Well we all hope your enthusiasm for him is well placed. Good post BTW. I am looking forward to seeing him give an account of himself.

A bit like New York eh Tommy? So good you posted twice.

Just had a look at those clips 'nocky'.

Looks good. A bit similar to McLaughlin who we have here and was with Forest in the Championship.

What's his deadball striking like, as we don't have naturally talented experts in that field here?
