Agreed - although I'd add Clohessy and possibly Hall to the decent list and I don't think Paterson is THAT bad.

Add Clohessy to the list and I agree with Wiggy 100%. Hopefully Phillips will return shortly to join the list and Ferdinand has the potential. Paul Sturruck's task is to build a squad around these players, keep our best players and offload those that fall short of the mark.Easier said than done,though!

I remain not quite convinced about Morris and definitely think, as others have said, that Clohessy should be on that list - other than that, I agree too!

I agree as well. If we could hold onto those players + Clohessey and Hall (kind of deserve a bit longer), bin the rest and bring in another 7 players who are as good, I think we would have the basis of a decent side to challenge next season.....

This depends thoroughly on their treatment by RM though....Shortfalls in wages or non-payment again and the team will suffer and fail regardless of who is playing.

I'd agree with Wiggy, but Danny Webb had the potential to be a good player. People can moan and say where is he now, but it's equally important to remember that he was at Southampton before us. He was also 17 when he was in our team....

My sentiments echo most on this thread. Sturrock is a decent player, all the players Wiggy mentions as well as Hall and Clohessy. Paterson is a decent player, he needs games under his belt to prove this, not be given a game and because he doesn't score get dropped and not be seen for a month.

I agree with Chadded (including the agreeing with Wiggy bit).

It's worth remembering that Webb's goal-scoring record as a 17 year old, was essentially the same as 21 year old Matt Paterson's.

Blair is a good player, and whole hearted, BUT, you will never get promoted with a non-scoring striker like that starting so many games, unless his partner is banging in over 35 a season, which is not going to happen.

Having watched football for over 40 years, all that holding the ball up and tapping it sideways or backwards does not equate to goals or promotion, as well as being very boring.
Give me a pacy striker that can get around the back and score goals any day.
