Billy Paynter Fights for his Place

Life President

Good news in my opinion. He's certainly the forward with the most experience at this level and more than deserves his chance with us. Reading the article, he seems determined to prove his worth and that's exactly the type of attitude we need, someone who is willing to put every effort in.... Not the Guttridge's and Ricketts' we had last season. Is certainly the type of player who would work well with MacDonald...

Looks like he's lost a bit of weight and is a lot fitter after his loan spell. How about people don't shout "C*nt" at him everytime he touches the ball next season?

Good stuff...I for one am looking forward to seeing how Billy does this season...I think he could become a key player.

hear hear... he was so unlucky last season and then the boo boys got on his case and i felt so so sorry for him. with a full pre-season i reckon he will hit the ground running next season and be class

Yep, for me (even before I read this), I was hoping we would go into the season (assuming nobody else comes in and Eastwood was leaving), with Paynter starting.

I just have a feeling he is going to be a very good player and he never got a decent chance last year...

He does deserve a chance and will hopefully be useful player for us but I never really saw anything in him worth shouting about before.

However against lesser teams when hopefully we are creating more chances maybe he will look better this time around.

Good news, he never really got a chance last season and I don't think he ever settled - which as we know from Clarke can have a major influence on some players games.

Good attitude from the lad as well.

That link also shows why Hooper haas been missing from training btw

Hope Paynter can stake his claim to a place just to prove all those (including ME!) that slated him previously. Right characteristic for the team I think; determination.

Scored some good goals for Bradford, so no reason why he can't for us too.

Getting quite excited about things now.

Top man, Billy - I've certainly added my support in the "Reader Comments" section. Here's to Paynter & Macdonald firing us to glory.

:)

I agree with this, there was nothing to shout about, but the fact he was booed was not on either. He did not lack effort, and if he wants to prove his worth, then I am very happy to watch him do so.

He was a massive hit with the Bradford fans at this level, so lets see the magic!!

He will hopefully be able to play in a position he favours more if Macdonald is going to be our fox in the box..
