have to say i love hearing peoples stories from the north bank absolutly brilliant!!

my best memory would have be wayne grays league 1 winning goal super day!!

My memory goes back to the first season when we lost 1-0 to Manchester City in the cup the year they won it. It had rained for a week and a new drainage system had been put in only a few days before. The pitch was covered in sand and soon ended up a mudbath. But the one abiding memory of this match was the amazing save that Bert Trautman made to keep out a Roy Hollis shot. I have never seen anything like it since. As I remember it he literally changed direction in mid air. I read some years later that he reckoned that it was the best save he had ever made. Incidentally he broke his neck in the final but played on.

I've been fortunate to witness many if not all of the great Roots Hall occasions in the last 20-odd years and it's hard to pick a favourite that hasn't already been mentioned.

Beating West Ham in the old division 2 was awesome, seeing West Ham fans forcibly removed from the North Bank, seeing the queue for the NB snaking all the way through the East Stand car park. It was a great atmosphere and the biggest crowd i've seen at RH, 12,813 present that night.

I, for once, had bragging rights at school!

mine is probably my first real game (that i can remember anyway) when we beat luton in the first round of the fa cup in 2001. super tes with a last minutes over head kick to make it 3-2 and we played chesterfield in the second round. those were some good days!

not necessarily my very favourite memories (as those matches already mentioned by others), but some of the next best include:

- coming back from 2-0 down to QPR in a cup-tie to draw 2-2 at a time when QPR were one of the top sides in the country. Remember watching this game from right at top of old south bank.

- beating Blackpool 4-0 with a couple of rockets from Gerrie Fell. It was Blackpool's first ever season out of top two divisions and they were still seen as a big side

- beating Port Vale 5-0 or 5-1 in first home match of 80/81 season. We scored all 5 goals in first 30 minutes.

Been to most of the games mentioned on here, I'm going to add another one to the list:
Home to Wigan Good Friday 1988, Wigan were near the top we were near the bottom. Wigan were 2-0 with 20 minutes to go. It was not looking good and we were all starting to believe we were going down and Wigan fans there must have thought they were going up. The legend Roy McDonough came on as sub and the game changed completly. Mcdonough scored then Ling Equalized with about 10 minutes to go. David Crown then scored a spectacular goal from 30 yards with about 5 minutes to go to win us the game. At the end of the game we all ran on the pitch from the North Bank to mob the players(no chance of getting arrested in those days).

We stayed up on the last game of the season and Wigan in the end clearly deflated by that defeat didnt even make the play offs.

Winning the Div 4 Title and being hurled on the pitch by my dad, and then many years later being able to do the same to Dan when we beat Bristol City.

7th April 1993. Southend 1 West Ham 0.

But the Man U game is never gonna get topped, is it?!

My first ever game, losing to Cambridge at the end of the 90/91 season was the most amazing game of my life, in the North Bank with 1000 or so frenzied fans.

That game was supposed to be a one off, but boy did it make me fall in love with Southend United.

And for that reason, it will forever be my most memorable game!!!!!

Finding it difficult to decide whether to go for the Bristol City league winning game or Billy Paynters hooooof against Stoke on his first game.

Not one particular match but those of you that can remember I recall being amazed by anton outlawkaski's throw-ins
