Best ever Southend goal?

One of the best i've seen in person would be Lewis Hunt's volley against Brighton in the Carling Cup, the year we beat Man U (as discussed briefly in another thread recently).

Cracking goal from the edge of the area to put us 2-1 up IIRC.

Scott Forbes vs Canvey and if YouTube ever starts working again I will post the video up. Its hard to choose just one cause there have been so many great one's.

Anton Outalokowski v Reading, late 1980s, he chipped it from about 30 yards. Reading keeper didn't have an earthlies and the entire ground was celebrating before it hit the net. We won 4-2.

John Cornwall v PNE. I can't believe no one mentioned this. Tilsons v Grimsby gets a mention but it was beaten to goal of the season by Cornwall. A volley from yards outside the area in what was about the last kick of the game (we won 3-2).

One of the best I remember was by Owen Simpson, a no neck left back of the early 70's. He smashed a 40 yarder into the North Bank goal, the only goal of a tedious game against Northampton.

Some years later Owen worked at the same company as me, and that goal was one of his best memories as a pro footballer, like as not he didn't score for any of his other clubs which included Col Ewe.

Yep thats the one cheers Kay. Have a look at the username of the person who added it ;)

I know, had twigged! What I want to know is, is "numph boy" (who has also posted a lot of these clips) another name for another one of our happy little crew?

Would you be talking about a certain man who wears a skirt?

I have two memorable goals,

1) McCormacks volley against Preston North End a couple of years ago sticks in my mind, what a strike that was!
2) Freddy Eastwood's free kick against Man Utd is most probabally the most memorable of them all, and will stay in many supporters minds for many years.

I have managed to watch Freddy Eastwood's goal online, but I can't find McCormacks goal online, so if anyone can find the video of that online, could they post a link please. Green rep for the first link posted.

Steve Tilson at home to Grimsby early 90's poor lay off 40 yards out but he still smashed it into the top corner with one touch.

Such was the view from the North Bank there was a 5 second delay before anyone realised that it had gone in. Crucial top of the table clash as I recall with a packed out North Bank, brilliant atmosphere and a mild celebratory pitch invasion at the end for a 2-0 win. Those were the days.....

Some of Freddy's have to feature in any top 10 - his goal against Barnsley a couple of seasons back as we fought back from 2-0 down was very special and his second against Swansea in the same season where he turned 3 defenders inside out is also worthy of a mention.

Good shout - in my mind it was about 35 yards out - absolute screamer to win us the game.
