Best cover songs??

Aberdeen Shrimper

The Man who sold the world
There have been some classic cover songs and some god awful ones, being a hugely obsessed Bowie fan i hate it when his songs are covered but i had to take my hat of to Nirvana when they covered Bowie's "The Man who sold the World"

Also really liked Guns and Roses version of "Knocking on Heavens door"

What is your favourit cover song??

Tell you what though, I have never ever heard a good cover of a Queen song and it is normally a career killer once you have done it.

Haven't we done this one before?

Hallelujuah by Jeff Buckley and Somewhere over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.

Bauhaus did a good cover of Ziggy Stardust....

OK...clicked on it and, it is a good cover in the respect that every key change and note is identical, even his movements on stage are identical to when Bowie performed the song at Hammersmith odean in 1972.

A complete copy of the original but for me covers should have the stamp of the atist performing it instead of doing a like for like identicle copy.

I was going to say exactly the same thing about it

Covers should be completely different, as an homage to the previous version as that shows a greater love for it IMO

A lot of their music is quite similar, I like it as it is very similar to the original, but I see your point about it lacking a stamp of the individual.

Now the Def Leppard accoustic one, that's bad!

If you want some totally different Bowie (different language and everything), watch Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou I personally love the version of Life on Mars

I was quite taken aback at just how close to the original it was though, i would imagine to get it that right they must be big Bowie fans and fro that reason i like them now :)
