Breaking News Ben Goodliffe Signs On Loan.

So where does this guy fit in?

Is he left sided, right sided, a ball playing central centre-half?

Are there some injuries (other than Crowther) we don’t know about?

We already have four fit centre-halves so to sign a fifth who is on EFL wages seems a strange move (some may remember the Steve Jones loan many years ago when we were solidly midtable and he was on a massive wage). If we needed a fifth centre-half as depth a Deon Woodman type youngster would have made more sense. Ralph and Taylor have been our best players so far this season and Golding had made a positive impression.

I’m all for adding quality (and until recently he had a decent resume) but this seems a strange move by itself. There seems to be something missing.

I assume he’s not out of contract in the summer if they’re loaning him until the end of the season?
He also, I think, lost his marker for two of Barnet's goals last weekend.

We still needed strengthening at the back, imo, in spite of the number of defenders on the books. I think we lack leadership and a big voice back there, and somebody who is going to get his head in in both boxes.

Not sure what there is to dislike here. He's 25, has EFL experience, NL promotion experience, and PL youth pedigree.

Yep a certain centre forward is definitely missing. This signing went completely below the radar as like you i thought we had enough central defenders.
I think we needed another centre-half as I believe Crowther is out long term but a cheap youngster would have sufficed if it was for depth. This seems an awfully expensive signing if it’s for cover. If it’s not for cover where does he fit in?

He sounds like one of the missing pieces of our jigsaw. Too many times we complain about being outmuscled and he should help that.

I wouldn’t be surprised if last weeks goals made this signing a high priority.

So who are we dropping for him?

Golding IMHO.

could be that he will take Ralph place and Ralph could very well replace Bridge at LWB

Depends if you rate Gubbins. I don’t overly. I think we need better than him & Crowther.
I’d say MF is more of a priority than a striker. No striker will score with poor service. Of course with Bonne, we now could’ve seen the pin pulled out the grenade (oh god let’s hope so) 🤞🏻

Was great to see bonne score. I like his ability to win headers and hold it up too. Plus his nous and experience are so important. I really hope it's the spark going forward but will probably depend on how we set up in the next game. With goodliffe organising at the back next to golding it's a seriously stronger defence and threat in the air going forward.
hope we still get hopper, then we've got some strength, know how and spine to our team.

That sounds good but who will make way? I've heard people say Golding is very right footed .... does that mean Taylor drops out? Or we have three right footers in the centre with Captain Ralph LWB?

Gives us an option to play Taylor in midfield again. He has played there before and spent a lot of time there in his career.
